you know, ceasar chavez was a master of protests, but he would not agree with those kinds of protestsoing on. when they turned violent, i think, and i tell people movement wants to put forth. >> sure. and i of history. the message to be heard, and there's always something to hijag it, an angle, there's always a message to be heard. as long as we do our part to focus on that message and making sure that we pay attention to it, and do what needs to be done, it's just going to be hard for a while. i think it has to be, because when you're comfortable, nothing changes. >> yeah. very true. well, that's the difficult conversation. let's lighten it up a little bit, if you don't mind. when it comes to comedy, i know that sometimes when i'm going to -- in the middle of the night, i'll come up with a story idea for the next day. if i don't write it down, i might forget it when i wake up in the morning. when you're writing your comedy, is it the same thing? do you wake up and not want to realize that great idea in the middle of the night? >> mine is more in the shower and when i'm driving. when

ceasar chavez was a young man, malcolm x was a young man, that the leaders of the feminist movement were young people. leaders of union movements were young people. and the movement to make sure that the lbgt community finally had a voice and was represented were young people. and so what i want -- when sometimes i feel despair, i just see what's happening with young people across the country and the talent and the voice and the sophistication that they are displaying. and it makes me feel optimistic. it makes me feel as if, you know, this country is going to get better. >> and that's former president obama speaking just in the past hour, offering comfort, hope, and saying there is a change in mindset taking place in this country. we can do better. he made three suggestions, including urging every mayor in this country to review their use of force policies. while he applauded people taking action to make things doctors a protests, being in large gatherings, so pose some risk at a time we're battling covid-19. joining us now to help us understand the risk and best practices for protesters
