lets get to meteorologist cecily tynan.he cecily, we're also expecting rain for the morning as well, right. >> yes, it could be a big mess. looking at double scan live you can see what we're dealing w we have a upper level le spinning over north carolina and then is there surface low that is forming off the coast and what this will do is push in water off the atlantic. so that means that this is more coastal flooding expect. tomorrow morning at high tides it will be minor but it looks like it will be moderate for tomorrow evening's high tide. so the next two tide cycles there will be coastal flooding and with this system it will bring in a lot of rain as well. so the morning rush hour is expected to have delays. allow extra time. the steady rain will be arriving, the heaviest for the morning rush will be along the i-95 corridor and areas south and east and could be heavy enough to cause localized flooding with ponding on roads. you do want to slow things down. that heavy rain will continue, right through lunchtime, so the i

cecily tynan in for adam joseph. >> hi, brian and sharrie. i have a little bit of bad news. the bright blue skies from mother's day beginning to fade behind increasing temperatures. currently in philadelphia 67 degrees. we did hit 71 degrees earlier today which is the normal high for this time of the year. allentown 68, trenton 68, wilmington 62 and cape may with the wind off the bay quite a bit cooler, only 59 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar showing we still had clear skies early this morning. we woke up with the sunshine but you can see how the clouds are really invading from the south and the west and we even do have a little bit of a ribbon of some scattered showers. this is across delaware and south jersey and you can see how they're broken but what's happening that cold front that moved through yesterday is moving back in and it's going to be sticking around for awhile. so, this is what to expect. some showers tomorrow, mainly south of philadelphia. it will be cooler. it will be damp but i am tracking a warmup by the middle of the week i'll talk more about

cecily, what's the latest track of these storms? >> and jim, all these storms are really sinking to the south and west. the bigger picture on double scan live showing what's going on, got an upper level low sitting off the coast of virginia and this is what's pivoting the storms in and i've been tracking this one line of storms moving into philadelphia. it's raining in philadelphia but actually the heavier downpours are either west or east of center city. we've got one area of very heavy downpours sitting right over route 130 near camden, another one that's moving through new jersey turnpike and moorestown not only four lightning strikes sorted with this view so really the big problem it's not the lightning, it's its heavy downpour near king of prussia, 202 a heavy downpour another moving through the blue route right near newtown square and some of these downpours dropping as much as 3-inches of rain an hour. so, that is causing a lot of ponding on roads. good idea to kind of pull over if you're trying to drive through this and wait

can can't we get some better weather for the weekend, cecily tynan? >> and jim we certainly will. i know everyone is really tired of the wet gloomy weather. the worst of it is over. double scan live showing that steady heavy rain that we had earlier today has now pushed over western pennsylvania but this low pressure is still here. it's just spinning. it's what's known as being vertically stacked now. the surface low is right under the upper level low. when that happens, the storm system will weaken but it just takes awhile. we don't have a lot of heavy rain but i have been tracking this one batch that's been moving through new castle county. it's right over 301 between newark and middletown and you can see how this is pushing to the west. it's crossing 40 right now. it will be heading to i-95 and we will see a few more scattered showers as we head through the evening hours. but not as much rain as earlier today. the rainfall totals showing that this was a soaking rain. generally about an inch to an inch and a quarter. trenton the outliar with only a half inch of rain and in addit

live at the big board is meteorologist cecily tynan. the cecily. >> storm doppler indicates that the heavy rain arrived right on schedule. we have severe weather in kent and sussex county, delaware. national weather service posted a severe thunderstorm warning essentially from wood side, on to the south and east until 11:15. this cell has a history of producing very intense wind gusts and also, half dollar sized hail and rain is torrential. flash flood warning has been posted until we hours of the morning until will 4:45 for this same area. so this is what we're looking at. if you live in kent county, delaware you can hear that thunder. it is very intense. this whole line has crossed through route one and crossing delaware bay and moving into south jersey. we have had 146 now lightening strikes in just the past 15 minutes. on the flip side here, closer to philadelphia, we only have five lightening strikes. these are just some very, heavy batches of rain, continuing to push up to the north east along the i-95 corridor. this will continue

cecily tynan has the forecast which is looking up. >> yes, tomorrow is looking better than today.ay it seems to get a little bit better, and stormtracker 6 live double scan showing showers south of philadelphia, they are having a tough time working to the north and generally south of wilmington and south of route 40 and you can see how they are trying to move north and we have dry air in place and we are getting pretty heavy rain in cape may. i want to zoom in on this, you can see the heavy batch of rain and we can flip this and show the radar estimates. cape may has gotten .70 inch of rain, closing in on a full inch of rain and stone arbor about .70 inch. this whole feature is shrinking down to the south as high pressure takes control than will dry things down tonight. live on sky 6 hd at cape may where the clouds are in place and the roads are definitely wet. temperature-wise a chilly day, normal high is 72, nowhere near that. 65 in philadelphia, you'll notice areas to the north that saw a little bit more filtered sunshine slightly warmer, trenton 68 degrees and allentown 67 and
