let's get right over to meteorologist cecily tynan at the "action news" big board. cecily how long will the rain stick around. >> rick, along the shore the rain, the steady rain should be moving out within the next hour or two, which is good because it has been a washout down the shore. double scan live showing the big picture. we've got this low pressure that used to be tropical storm bonnie and what this is doing is supplying that steady rain right along the coast. at the same time there's a cold front that's beginning to push into the western suburbs and this does have a broken line of some storms. a lot of those storms should be breaking apart but what this front will do is finally pushing that moisture across the shore out to sea. we'll begin to dry things out but zooming in you can see that the heaviest rain right now has just slipped off the coast but we still have a steady rain along the garden state parkway from cape may beyond atlantic city. it has been a washout on the beaches. but the situation will gradually improve. so, this is what to expect. that rain

lets get to meteorologist cecily tynan. the cecily, we're also expecting rain for the morning as well, right. >> yes, it could be a big mess. looking at double scan live you can see what we're dealing w we have a upper level le spinning over north carolina and then is there surface low that is forming off the coast and what this will do is push in water off the atlantic. so that means that this is more coastal flooding expect. tomorrow morning at high tides it will be minor but it looks like it will be moderate for tomorrow evening's high tide. so the next two tide cycles there will be coastal flooding and with this system it will bring in a lot of rain as well. so the morning rush hour is expected to have delays. allow extra time. the steady rain will be arriving, the heaviest for the morning rush will be along the i-95 corridor and areas south and east and could be heavy enough to cause localized flooding with ponding on roads. you do want to slow things down. that heavy rain will continue, right through lunchtime, so the

cecily tynan has the forecast which is looking up. >> yes, tomorrow is looking better than today.ay it seems to get a little bit better, and stormtracker 6 live double scan showing showers south of philadelphia, they are having a tough time working to the north and generally south of wilmington and south of route 40 and you can see how they are trying to move north and we have dry air in place and we are getting pretty heavy rain in cape may. i want to zoom in on this, you can see the heavy batch of rain and we can flip this and show the radar estimates. cape may has gotten .70 inch of rain, closing in on a full inch of rain and stone arbor about .70 inch. this whole feature is shrinking down to the south as high pressure takes control than will dry things down tonight. live on sky 6 hd at cape may where the clouds are in place and the roads are definitely wet. temperature-wise a chilly day, normal high is 72, nowhere near that. 65 in philadelphia, you'll notice areas to the north that saw a little bit more filtered sunshine slightly warmer, trenton 68 degrees and allentown 67 and

cecily tynan is here at the big board with a close look at the accuweather forecast. and the possibility of a heat wave. >> we are on the verge of having a heat wave and it looks like memorial day will turn wet. two out of three ain't bad. this is the camera on ton of shrivers and we are getting pictures of ocean city, new jersey. a lot of people on the beaches and the weekend is starting sunny and hot. philadelphia still holding at 89 degrees and reading though 90 and allentown 89 and wilmington 87 with the wind off the ocean cape may point quite a bit cooler with the ocean temperature 60 and air temperature 69 degrees, and it's on the humid side, the heat index just one or two degrees above the air temperature, a little bit uncomfortable there, especially if you don't like the warm weather, for the most part we are rain free and there is a disturbance working through central pennsylvania, it could cut off the isolated thunderstorm, like in the poconos tonight and elsewhere a warm and humid night. 65 in the cooler suburbs and 68 for center city with winds from the so

live at the big board is meteorologist cecily tynan. cily. >> storm doppler indicates that the heavy rain arrived right on schedule. we have severe weather in kent and sussex county, delaware. national weather service posted a severe thunderstorm warning essentially from wood side, on to the south and east until 11:15. this cell has a history of producing very intense wind gusts and also, half dollar sized hail and rain is torrential. flash flood warning has been posted until we hours of the morning until will 4:45 for this same area. so this is what we're looking at. if you live in kent county, delaware you can hear that thunder. it is very intense. this whole line has crossed through route one and crossing delaware bay and moving into south jersey. we have had 146 now lightening strikes in just the past 15 minutes. on the flip side here, closer to philadelphia, we only have five lightening strikes. these are just some very, heavy batches of rain, continuing to push up to the north east along the i-95 corridor. this will continue overni

lets get right to meteorologist cecily tynan at the big board, cecily. >> jim, it business time.at a flip flop over the past 20 days, first ten days of that period starting april 17th we have had mega block and we were trapped under high pressure. that meant it was warm, temperatures, more than 6 degrees above average and it was dry, only about a third of an inch of rain the flip side, past ten days, temperatures averaging more than 6 degrees below average and we had more rain the past ten days then we have had the entire month of april, more than 2 inches and it is still raining in parts of our region. double scan live is showing you look at this spin, low pressure is sitting over us. it is verticalcally stacked which means upper level low is right over the surface low. that will help weaken the storm. it will start to dissipate but we have a solid area of rain right now, generally north and west of philadelphia, north of the pennsylvania turnpike, we do have some pockets of some heavier rain. things will be changing over the weekend but future tracker is showing don't want to e
