the city of cedar rapids said once again today, it will not release the dash camera video right now from an officer- involved shooting that happened exactly 2 weeks ago. cedar rapids police said it intends to release the video "when advised and approved by the linn contradicts a ruling from the state board that oversees open records in iowa. just after 1 a-m on november 1st, officer lucas jones stopped jerime mitchell for a traffic violation near coe college in cedar rapids. police say the 2 men got into some sort of an altercation, and that's when jones fired his gun, seriously wounding mitchell. mitchell is still in the hospital. the iowa public information board says open records shall be kept confidential unless it's ordered by a court, or if iowa's division of criminal investigations said again today they have no timetable for when they'll wrap up the case. while mitchell's family waits for the video, they reached out to an iowa city social justice group for help. the group is called showing up for racial justice. and they will be protesting at today's city council meeting. the newl

city getting federal money for the years. that's the best guess right now for the full cost of future flood protection in cedar rapids. as we saw in late september, the river won't wait. kcrg-tv9's dave franzman joins us now with a special report we call "no protection." dave, is the city ever going to see any federal bruce, under the current rules, so many communities with more valuable property rank ahead of cedar rapids you really have to wonder. but this most recent flood may have shaken things up a bit so there is hope. one way to look at flood protection funding is like a giant jigsaw puzzle... the pieces have to fit. the biggest chunk is in hand... 267-million dollars of sales tax money the city can keep for flood work... but it'll come in slowly over 20 to earn that state money, the city will put up 110- million by selling bonds or borrowing over the years. here's the piece from the federal government... now 78 million approved, but there's no actual money yet. and the biggest question mark... the final 170-million with no idea where that's coming when the cedar river began rising rapidly in late september, cit

cedar rapids city leaders say some new technology is making it safer to cross streets. this is the pedestrian hybrid beacon. the newest one is along 42nd street ne at marilyn drive -- outside of pierce elementary, where there is lots of foot traffic when school lets out. for drivers, the lights change from yellow to red, then flashing red. flashing red light if all of the people are out of the crosswalk. the city says the beacon has proven to reduce crashes. it just may take some getting used to. investigation is currently working a case in cedar rapids after an officer involved shooting from 10 hours ago -- that's still impacting one major road in the city. cedar rapids police say it started around 1:15 a-m when an officer pulled over a man during a traffic stop. it led to a fight where male suspect then took off -- and crashed his vehicle. kcrg t-v nine's brea love is live from the scene where it ended on coe college's campus. brea, what do we know about this incident. the iowa division of criminal investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving a cedar rapids police officer that occurred shortly after 1:15 a.m. tuesday morning on the lower hospital.based on preliminary information, a police officer was on a traffic stop with a 37-year old male. the individual that was pulled over began an altercation with the police officer. during the incident, the police officer discharged his service weapon at the suspect. the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle southbound towards 1st avenue east. the suspect vehicle struck an unmarked cedar rapids police department sport utility vehicle that was responding to coe road ne. t
