a police chase involving officers from cedar rapids forced a lockdown at clear creek amana schools this afternoon. cedar rapids police say it started on i-380 at wright brothers boulevard when officers the johnson county sheriff's office and iowa state patrol joined the chase. authorities say at one point, the vehicle drove through a field, and two people stole a farmer's pick up. authorities found that pick up at half moon avenue near highway 6, west of tiffin. police are still looking for the man and woman involved in this chase. two boston police officers are in critical condition after they were shot while responding to a call. call of a man threatening his roommate. police say 33 year old kirk figueroa shot the officers with an assault style rifle while wearing body armor. police quickly pulled the injured officers out line of fire before shooting and killing the suspect. the two officers are expected to survive. witnesses say the scene was intense. " witness: there was a lot of gun shots, like over 30 gun shots. and then we seen a bunch of police come and just swat teams and dogs.

cedar rapids police have shut down one of the city's red light traffic cameras. it's the one that monitored the intersection of second avenue and third street southwest, near the linn county sheriff's office. the camera's no longer effective lights at that intersection. police don't know yet if that camera will go up in another location. also, remember the red jeep that police used with a mobile speed camera? police aren't using that now either because of mechanical issues. there's no decision yet on whether to replace the jeep. a public meeting's going on right now in hiawatha on the possibility of adding another go at tower terrace road on the edge of hiawatha. people are also discussing a study that looked at reconstructi ng the i-380 interchange at boyson road. the meeting goes until 6:30 this evening. it's at the hiawatha city hall on emmons street. and tonight on t-v nine news at ten we'll let you know what's taking place at the meeting and how it could affect you. dangerous flooding continues to force thousands of people out of their homes following hurric

cedar rapids police say your financial info could be at risk next time you use an a-t-m. different area banks and credit unions have seen a recent rise in fraud cases from a-t-m skimmers. the skimming devices often placed on top of the card reader at a-t-ms or other places that take cards. skimmers can give criminals thinks he was a victim. eugene pinney says thieves likely got his card info at a local gas station. they tried to make a near $200 purchase at a new jersey walmart. pinney's credit union caught the fraud in time. he didn't lose any money, just some confidence in his card.
