really exploding crossing from route 13 to cedarville. six lightning strikes and heavy rain. this extends east of philadelphia to trenton. if you drive the new jersey turnpike heavy rain and a line through speed well heading towards the coast and more rain pushes towards the coast in the evening hours, but these storms diminish once we get past sunset and the good thing about the rain it's cooled off the temperatures. take a look at the temperatures right now. philadelphia down to 71 degrees, our high today 89 and that means this week is not the sixth heat wave of the year. this is not a heat wave. wilmington 71 and dover 83 degrees and cape may 79 degrees. dew point shows you this is why we are looking at the heavy downpours today. dew points in the upper 60s to around 70 that is a tropical air mass and the air is saturated and any storms pull down a lot of rain in a short period of time. satellite 6 along with action radar showing the storms erupting at lunch time and more widespread in the afternoon and pushing into south jersey now and beginning to lose their intensity an

still heavy rainfall, though, moving through sections of cumberland county, bridgeton, cedarville, millvilleooking at some of the heavier rainfall. still pretty quiet, though, atlantic city, down the shore, some of this will clip the area, but once again, a lot of it will simply diminish as we lose the daytime heating. lightning was a big problem out of the showers and thunderstorms along with gusty winds at the airport 45 miles per hour gusts, king of prussia some lightning, white marsh as well. potential damage with house fire in marlton, also, mt. laurel looking at some structural damage. so how much rain have we seen? anywhere from one to 2-inches that has prompted some flood advisories now through sections of south jersey, haddonfield, millville, hammonton into sections of kent county around the dover area watching for ponding and run off. so over the next couple of hours, most of the rainfall south and east of philadelphia north and west starting to dry out. if you have some of those outdoor plans once again you can see over night tonight we're dry but muggy. tomorrow morning we start

and the bull's-eye is just south of cedarville in cumberland county with five to six inches of rain. what about specifically at the jersey shore? close to two inches in cape may point. 1 1/2 in dennisville. look at wamath. over three inches. then 1.8. less than two inches to do that mess to margate. they had five inches last time. that was a better excuse. less than two inches should not cause that kind of flooding. 1.24 inches on long beach island. here's the futurecast. we go through the rest of the night. we've got some more rain in delaware and south jersey. that continues to move through. we start the day off with clouds. but then we gradually get at least a little bit of sunshine in the afternoon. but much sun here. wednesday and thursday, the temperature goes back up. p.a. suburbs also start off with a lot of clouds. the most sunshine tomorrow is in the lehigh valley and then some beautiful weather the next two days, too. the place with the only real chance for rain tomorrow morning. that's jersey shore or the southern portion of delaware. and then, as we head toward next week
