steve centanni joins me live from fred ris virginia.ittle bit about what they are doing there. >> reporter: the house you see behind me is being donated to a quadruple amputee who served in iraq and afghanistan, sergeant john peck. he first went to iraq and had a brain injure from an ied that went offer. he came back and went back to afghanistan, another ied went off and he lost all four of his limbs. they are donating houses to people so severely impacted by the wars across the country and hope to build dozen of them. this is about the 12th or 13th they've done. later on today they will have a ceremony here, that is why the big american flag flying. john peck will get the keys to his new house here on the sans lore civil war battlefield and he and his mother will live there. a very good story for veteran's day as we some of these people who have difficulty dealing with ordinary houses having a specially fitted smart house that he can use, that has special features, that will make it more livable for him. martha: what a wonderful thing

martha: steve centanni is live in new jersey. steve, that area has been hit so hard and so many people still living through that. what is going on where you are? >> reporter: absolutely. a terrible one-two punch for people already devastated here by hurricane sandy. now we have this early nor'easter. we had a convergence of events a late hurricane and early nor'easter. nine days separating the two huge storms having terrible impact from new jersey, new york, connecticut. we have heavy wet snow. as you can see three inches of snow on the ground. john, pan over and take a look. this road clear behind me. a lot of snow on the trees. power lines are there. the problem there are still leaves on these trees. that makes branches heavy. the heavy wet snow comes down as it did all last night. makes the branch the weak. breaks them off, snaps them across the power lines and you have a big problem. 400,000 people out of power here in new jersey alone. that, as some people who already power back after hurricane sandy, and lost it again last
