the latest in a long line of public officials to face corruption charge, alexandria hoff is in center city tonight with more and how the city is making national headlines for the wrong reasons. alex? >> reporter: ukee, this week, vice news asked a question that's gotten a whole lot of attention, is philadelphia the most corrupt city in the country? if it is, we wanted a to know why and what can be done. >> just a few examples. this month it was district attorney seth williams. in december, congressman shack fattah convicted of misusing grant money. 2013, seven of nine city traffic court judges charged with, yes, corruption. >> to some extent, one party rule is a factor in it. >> over 50 year, one political party has controlled the city of philadelphia. >> we tip the balance so to the point where it makes it very hard for the political competition to take place >> registered democrats out number city republicans seven to one. the ratio is identical to the number of democrats running against a sole republican for district attorney >> we also shot out independent voters from primary elections
