we've seen spirited protests in central iowa over the bakken oil pipeline. a major decision could come down today on a suit from the north dakota to temporarily stop the pipeline. the tribe and other protestors claim it could contaminate drinking water for millions of people. protestors add the pipeline would destroy sacred native american land. texas-based dakota access is building the pipeline from north dakota to illinois, with it going through 18 counties here in iowa. the yankton sioux tribe in south dakota is also now suing federal regulators for approving permits for the pipeline the tribe filed the lawsuit yesterday against the u-s army corps of engine permits for the project. the suit says the construction on these lands would damage sites of enormous cultural importance. the fight to stop construction has drawn thousands of protesters to north dakota in recent weeks they've been gathering now at the sacred stone camp in the southern part of the state. some have donated food and volunteered to cook for the protesters.
