chad myers, you're looking at a storm system here. you have your eye on chicago, right? >> yeah.be a fairly big evening into the afternoon here when the sun heats up the atmosphere. had a couple of storms that put down a small rope tornado just northeast of peoria about an hour and a half ago. that storm has weakened moved towards chicago, but chicago still in a tornado watch. a watch means it could happen. a warning means it is happening. so it isn't happening yet but it could. now, this weather is all the way back into des moines all the way back down even into parts of arkansas and missouri. we do have a few storms rotating at this hour. this is going to be a bigger event than yesterday. yesterday we had ten tornadoes on the ground many of them small ropey tornadoes that kind of skipped along. today may be a much bigger day. need to keep your noaa weather radio on keep watching here. we will have it for you all day long. >> chad myers, we will be watching along with you, thank you so much. >>> right now, the aaron hernandez case. jurors are behind closed doors now, weighing th

chad myers is tracking all of it. he joins us tonight. what's the latest chad? >> we have and still do anderson have large and violent tornadoes at threes maybe at fours. i've seen video of these storms on the ground. many of them through farmland but some have hit cities. they are moving out of northern illinois into southern wisconsin right now. bon bonner ins lake. east of rock ford take cover. harvard area there. these have been large wedged tornadoes, wind speeds of 130 to 150 miles per hour. here they are now east of rockford moving to the northeast. grand prairie hit very hard by a tornado and also just to the west of rochelle hit hard. we know there are damage and injuries in that area. farther to the south, more weather popping up. these storms are not dying down. in fact they're still getting stronger as we talk right now. so down to the southern part of illinois all the way down toward longview texas. we have had tornadoes on the ground. there's the storm near woodstock, not the town itself. rockford, rotation to the east of you farther south to the e

let's get right to meteorologist chad myers. we have tornado watches going well into the night.arting to flare up. >> the problem is exactly what you just touched on. yesterday, kansas parts of nebraska, oklahoma and texas. wide open country. sure, a few big cities but there are bigger cities today. chicago, indianapolis peoria springfield, down to st. louis. these are the areas that are going to see the significant weather. it's going to be like a rake. we already have a number of storms one, two, three all the way down here. they are called super cells. they are going to drive across illinois just like a rake goes across your garden. when these are on the ground there is going to be pretty significant tornadoes. could be f-3s today. so as we zoom into the iowa storm right there, the good news with this storm at least is it's still in a rural area. but davenport, the quad cities you are possibly next to see this storm. there is nothing to stop this storm from moving your way, nothing to affect it. when we get all the storms lined up in a big long line typically you don't get bi

let's get straight to meteorologist chad myers with the forecast. he way from kansas down through texas, almost parts of oklahoma that's where the big storm will be today. the big story is warm weather in the middle east and snow in the rockies. like two feet of snow. part of -- this is spring. cold on one side warm on the other. look at the rain we've already had down across the south for the past couple of days and more rain coming. even a tornado warning yesterday for new orleans. no report of any damage but they did have hail there. here we go for later on today. the storms fire here. the snow's in the rockies. the rain's in the southeast. and it's still pretty nice in the northeast. not as nice tomorrow because we start to see some rain coming in but that's the precursor to warm air coming in to the northeast. temperatures will be pushing 80 in a lot of the big cities by saturday. still snowing tomorrow into friday all the way through friday night rockies. here comes the rain and warm front and warmer air. it's going to be a very nice week. d.c.

so let's get chad myers to break it all down for us where we can expect it how bad is it going to be ad? >> there will be tornadoes on the ground today, no question. we didn't have any yesterday didn't expect them. we'll have them from evansville, to paducah, up to cincinnati not in those cities particularly but 50 miles either side of those cities, there will be severe weather. it's warm 80 degrees, it's not spring for buffalo over the weekend, i get that. but it's warm from tulsa to springfield, paducah, louisville. maybe all the way to cincinnati. the area of enhanced severe weather. tomorrow it moves to nashville, chattanooga, birmingham down to tuscaloosa. cold air on this side, warm air on this side. and eventually the cold air does make its way into the northeast. i can't put that away and yes, that white is the "s" word we talked about yesterday. there is snow coming down and lackawanna ton wanda, all of my old towns around buffalo. i'm sorry, more snow is coming for the weekend. >> his whole demeanor has even changed. >> it's broken his spirit. this winter has broken chad's s
