. >> good morning, chair richardson, members of the committee. for the record, my name is martin wiggins, and i'm presenting on parks events andand programming. i felt the need to start a conversation with the committee on looking forward to park programming and events with an eye to some of the recent events that people are familiar with, so i'll run through the presentation and i'm sure there'll be time for discussion and questions. i'll start with events that people are familiar with. the treasure island music fe t festival has been here for a few years. in dark pink is the area itself and then staging and parking areas are shown. it's a large event, 10,000 to 12,000 attendees. and then, the duration, while it's just kind of a long weekend, there's some set up involved and some takedown. treasure-fest is an event we're probably all familiar with, taking place on the west side of the island, 15,000 to 20,000 attendees, and breakdown and set up, and you can see some areas that extend outside of the actual event. and then thirdly, the dragon boat

>> chair richardson, committee members, thank you very much for your attention to our presentation on the pacific basin fountain. >> we know your name, sir? >> i'm sorry. walt pilowski, treasure island museum. the historic important is clear. as you've heard me say so many times before, treasure island has these wonderful threats of history that continue in the present and into the future. and visitors to the fountain will not only be able to see the art and the history and the themes to the fair but the relevance to san francisco's place on the pacific rim and the concerns we have today looking at china and korea. this fountain will have meaning that any visitor can find in it. the -- this is now or never for the fountain. we have a big island. it's in the process of being recreated. there must be space somewhere on the fountain -- on the island for the fountain. we certainly would love to have input into that discussion, but there are a lot of players and a lot of interests, and that's a discussion beyond our thinking today. there is funding for art on the island. there is a road ma

board has set up a new aerospace safety committee that has been chaired now we added admiral richardson with a deep background in safety is a background of that committee and then be aligned our entire engineering organization of 50000 engineers now report directly to the chief engineer who reports to me to create additional visibility and independence with a focus on safety. >> when i hear that and i read the chatter reports and the ntsb recommendations in september and the investigation report that there are changes that we need in how we certify aircraft with the faa process that what we have now went too far we need to hold the faa accountable they are supposed to hold the manufacturers accountable i'm not convinced based on the previous report and boeing's own actions that is adequate. i would like to hear your view. >> congressman we believe there are improvements to the process you are very flavor the delegated authority process that is important to fundamental safety and contributes to 95 improvement safety but we have to make sure we have the balance right and re- support the r
