the mayors of this nation can really help with this, whether it's engagement with the local chamber of commerce, encouraging veteran hiring, what we find out is, for those who have done this -- if you're a veteran and you're hiring a veteran, you get it, you understand the type and quality of person you're getting. for those who have not been in the veteran hiring space, i'll use a great example of one of today's sponsors. we'll lean into this, we'll hire 300 veterans this year. eight weeks later they did it. they said, let's go to 450. eight weeks later they did it again, and said, geez, we really love the quality of the people we're getting this is not a population we had targeted. they ended up with 620 folks in 2011. that's one company in the united states of america. replicate that times 29,000 and you can see the possibility of really helping the young veteran population in a short period of time. my ask of the group is, go back on your communities and spread the word, hire a veteran or military spouse. you will find time and time again, the quality of the person you get are already a vet

that it's really about whether lewis powell succeeded in doing what his memo said that the chamber of commerce and corporate america should do which is change the legal social and economic structure it wasn't just about winning a few supreme court cases it was about change in american culture and that is i think what they succeeded in doing so i think we now see the results not only in our democracy after citizens united but in the food we eat the water we drink the wars we fight. almost throughout our society i talk about schools essentially being corporate ties now and the economy i think what we see in the economy is once we accepted the lewis powell theory the chamber of commerce theory that corporations are just like people and have rights rather than being tools that serve us rather than we are tools that serve the corporations once that got flipped around everything was beyond debate so if the corporations wanted to start up get all the benefits and privileges of a corporation but put all the jobs in to sweat shops overseas or into dangerous factories in china that would be just fine. a

chamber of commerce finds them still gloomy about the economy -- aad not in the mood to create more jobsrepreneurs the chamber surveyed -- 85% said the country is on the wrong track.coratolo says: only 12 percent said they are adding jobs and that's consistent with what they said in july of last year. they're still sitting on the sidelines. they're being defensive. 63-percent indicated they're going to keep the same number chamber survey found that 78% offentrepreneurs said taxes-- regulation and other policies from washington make it harder for them to hire new workers. 74% said the new health care reform law does too. coratolo says: 8 out of 10 small businesses want washington to get out f the way. only a very few want them to give them a helping hand. the hamber survey found small company owners are optimistic about some things. 45% think the business climate ii their communities will improve over the next two years... up 12 percentage points from last october. and 69% have confidence in their own futures saying their businesses are headed in the right direction. that's it for this ed
