>> reporter: asian law caucus attorney angela chan says domestic violence victims are also being victimized bid the federal secure communities program which is fingerprints taking to track down and report undocumented immigrants who may be wanted on major or minor offenses. chan says at least two of her clients are domestic violence victims facing deportation because police arrested them too. >> they arrested both parties and fingerprinted both clients. >> reporter: in some cases the alleged domestic violence victims are themselves facing previous charges. the issue is gaining national attention after a victim confronted an i.c.e. official. >> i thought he would help me, but through this the police turned me over to i.c.e. now i ha a deportation order. >> reporter: i.c.e. officials have told us that they have deported close to 300 people. live in san francisco, david emergency meeting is going on right now in response to a spike in crime. they've invited residents to discuss crime and help come up with proactive measures to try and prevent future violence. >>> friday's killing was the city'

several members of the command staff as well as commissioner chan and commissioner dejesus and direct hicks attended. there were four officer-involved shootings. we will start with the officer- involved to discharge. that occurred on august 9, 2010. that was found to be not in policy. there is a quick synopsis of the event. i will go over but. the officer, while manipulating his firearm, and intensely discharged his spiral. there were no injuries. it was not in policy. the first of the four shootings that were involved, the first one was 09-004. this event occurred on september 5, 2009. after reviewing this case, it was found to be in policy. the situation or the incident of the officers dispatched to that street regarding a person. an officer in tarter communicated with the suspect. -- an officer communicator was there. the second officer-involved shooting, 10-001, january 23, 2010. this was found to be in policy. at this event, -- this event, the offices were dispatched -- the officers were dispatched about a possible mental health evaluation. the officers were met at the door by a

[applause] commissioner chan: good evening. i'm happy to be here. i have family in this neighborhood, so i come here quite often. beautiful district. my daytime job is in a staff attorney at the asian law caucus, a nonprofit civil rights organization located in chinatown, and my focus is on juvenile education -- juvenile justice and education. i was happy to join the commission back in june of last year. [applause] commissioner slaughter: good evening, everybody. i do not want to say jr., but i'm perhaps the most recent appointee to the commission. i'm a san franciscan of about 20 years. certainly not three generations, like commissioner hammer, but it certainly is my home lwhere i'm raising my children, who were born a couple blocks away. this is an old neighborhood. we do not live there anymore. i'm an attorney downtown. my practice focuses on about half on criminal work and half on civil work. i have enjoyed my time on the commission, and i particularly enjoyed making sure that we get meetings out in the community, so that all the residents can g

host: sewell chan? guest: you raised some very valid points.d note that there were many, many terrible crashes and burst bubbles before 1913. you do raise an interesting issue about the role of the fed. there was a major effort to strip away the fed's regulatory duties. most people know about the fed's role in setting interest rates and supplying the amount of credit to the economy. they're not amount -- not aware of its role as a regulator of financial institutions. there was an effort to give that to other regulators. that's not what happened in the end. the legislation, in fact, strengthened the fed's role as a regulator of systemic financial institutions. the largest, most interconnected companies, will be seen over by the fed. host: here is "the financial times" this morning. it says the federal reserve made a upgrade and kept its asset purchase program. the most important change to the statement was a reference to rising commodity prices, saying that although they had risen, longer term expectations have remained stable and a measure of u
