kron 4's charles clifford is live at the scene --- charles what do we know? >> reporter: we found that the teenager was found deceased earlier this morning. crime scene investigators have been here all morning trying to find out what happened. according to the fairfield police department, around 6:45 friday morning, an officer was performing a security check here near allan witt park, when he was flagged down by someone who reported seeing a possible dead body. >> he responded and said the there was a young white skinned female deceased in a parking lot. >> reporter: he responded over and found a young light skined femle deceased near the parking lot. so far, very little is know about the woman. she's described as being in her teens and investigators are trying to figure out who she is. police are also handling this as a homicide investigation. the victims body was found out in the open and they believe she died recently. csi teams are currently searching a very large area of the park. >> the problem is, with the size of the park we don't know what's involved

kron 4's charles clifford has more... on the city's plans to demolish the stadium after the team moves south to its new home in santa clara. candlestick parks sits about 5 and a half miles south of downtown san francisco. the stadium was built in the late fifties as a home for the san francisco giants, the 49ers started using it in 1971. the giants moved out in 2000 and the next nfl season will be candlesticks last. for more than fifty years candlestick park has been home to sports, concerts, and more than a few memorable moments, among the highlights was the 1989 loma prieta earthquake, which shook the stadium on live television during the world series. there was also this pass from joe montana to dwight clark, which was immortalized as the catch that sent the 49ers to superbowl 16. candlestick park is currently run by the san francisco recreation and parks department, but after the 49ers play there last game here next season, developer lennar urban will take over. lennar is the same company that is redeveloping the near

kron four's charles clifford continues our team coverage with a look at the difficult task of searching for a dangerous man in the snowy san bernardino mountians. >> reporter: big bear is about 100 miles east of downtown los angeles, in the san bernardino mountains. this is a view looking north across the area, big bear city sits here and just to the south of town is the bear mountain ski resort. now christopher dorner's burned out truck was found along a dirt road roughly a couple milesto the southwest of the ski area. this is a very remote location. there are a lot of pine trees and ravines. the terrain here is steep and rocky, also in the recent past there are have been forest fires in this area that have left a lot of debrie on the ground, that could make it tough for search teams on foot. also, there are apparently about 400 homes nearby. a lot of these residences are vacation homes and probably empty. search teams have been going door to door checking theses residences now, a command post has been set up in big bear city and swat team members have been carried via helicopter from

kron 4's charles clifford shows us what could be in store. >> reporter: on an average day, more than 360 thousands people ride bart. on special event days, such as the giants world series celebration, ridership can exceed 500,000 people. the two busiest stations in san francsico are the embarcadero and montgomery platforms, which can be shoulder to shoulder during rush hour. because ridership is expected to keep going up and because small problems at either of these station can back up the entire system, bart is considering making substantial alterations the changes could include adding more elevators, stairways, and possibly putting in sliding glass doors to control flows onto and off of trains. they may also dig new tunnels and add additional platforms to create what are called saddlebag platforms...where people can enter and exit trains on both sides. the renovations would take about 5 years to completed and cost upwards of 600 millions dollars. bart also says that the work could be done without stopping service. in san francisco, charles clifford kron 4 news. >> pam: president ob

kron 4's charles clifford clifford has a look at the conditions. >> reporter: after several weeks of dry weather, the ski areas around lake tahoe are now reporting typical mid season conditions. with spring break on the horizon, they are all happy to get some new snow. to the north of lake tahoe, this was the view wednesday afternoon from squaw valley. they're reporting an inch of new snow over night and 4 inches over the past 24hours. they now have a 26 inch base at the bottom of the mountain and 97" mid mountain. to the east northstar has seen 5 inches of new snow over the past two days, they now have an 84 inch base. around south lake tahoe, heavenly is reporting five new inches of snow and kirkwood received 8 inches over the past 24 hours. so most ski areas around lake tahoe are reporting mid season conditions. there is a possibility of some snow later this week and if you're headed to the sierra in the near future caltrans is reporting that road conditions are clear. in the newsroom, charles clifford, kron 4 news. >> jacqueline: we will see this cloud cover to overnight. there i

kron 4's charles clifford shows us just how close the asteroid came to earth. >> reporter: around 11:30 pacific time friday morning, asteroid 2012 da14 whipped past the earth traveling roughly south to north over india. the 45 meter wide rock was traveling about 7 kilometers per second, or 8 times the speed of a rifle bullet. it came within about 17,200 miles of the earth, by cosmic standards thats a very close call. by comparison, the moon is about 239 thousands miles away. the asteroid actually came so close that it passed within the orbit of many of the satellites circling the earth. now, this isn't the last we've seen of da14, the asteroid is on a path that will eventually bring it back to earth, but not for awhile. it's next expected visit will be on febuary 14th, 2045 when it's expected to once again sail safely by. in the newsroom, charles clifford kron 4 news. >> the one object that we did see were the '70s and the sun shining. those warm temperatures will be nice but a bit cooler for tomorrow. a look outside the bay bridge. cool, warm, temperatures in the 60s. we will stay cl

kron 4's charles clifford has more >> reporter: candlestick parks sits about 5 and a half miles south of downtown san francisco. the stadium was built in the late fifties as a home for the san francisco giants, the 49ers started using it in 1971. the giants moved out in 2000 and the next nfl season will be candlesticks last. for more than fifty years candlestick park has been home to sports, concerts, and more than a few memorable moments, among the highlights was the 1989 loma prieta earthquake, which shook the stadium on live television during the world series. there was also this pass from joe montana to dwight clark, which was immortalized as the catch that sent the 49ers to superbowl 16. candlestick park is currently run by the san francisco recreation and parks department, but after the 49ers play there last game here next season, developer lennar urban will take over. lennar is the same company that is redeveloping the nearby hunters point shipyard. under an agreement with the city, lennar is required to demolish the stadium. something they have said will happen sooner rather t

charles clifford has an update on the snow pack that we all rely on for our water. >> after a very wet november and december, california started the new year with an above average amount of snow in the mountains, but since then, things have been very is dry. the california department of water resources says that state- wide, we have about 75% of the amount of snow that we usually have at this time of year. also the state's rainy season usually peaks around april 1s and so far california has about half of the amount of snow it usually sees by that date. while at the moment, we have a smaller than usual snow pack, water resources does say that our reservoirs are at about 100% of capacity. near tahoe, there's lots of snow in the mountains and the ski resorts on the lake are still boasting impressive snow packs as you can see from the web cam, but there hasn't been any significant new snowfall in weeks. with spring break on the horizon, a couple of big storms could be good for business. and if rainy weather continues, the snow pack could also get back on track. in the newsroom, charles cli

kron-4's charles clifford has been in fairfield all day.e joins us live tonight with the very latest. the girl, who's described as a teenager, was reported missing by a guardian thursday afternoon when she didn't come home from school. the suisun city police department spent thursday eveing and friday morning searching for her. around 6:45 friday morning, an officer with the fairfield police department discovered her body lying naked in a parking lot here at allan witt park. fairfield police blocked off a large section of the park and spent most of the day searching the area. they also contacted suisun city police who were able to identify girl as their as of friday evening the girls name and exact age had not been released, pending notification of next of kin. the fairfield police department is now leading are treating this as homicide case. kicked team coverage continues now with kron-4's alecia reid. who got reaction from nearby residents. only on kron 4. new details about the suspect in the 1984 san francisco disappearance of kevin coll
