kron 4's charles clifford is live tonight in belmont with an details. charles well, at this point it's not clear how this woman died. police can't say if she was hit by a vehicle, ishe fell, or if something else happened, but the investigation is still on going. according to the belmont police department, a woman in her 60's was found lying in the roadway here along cipriani blvd at the intersection with newlands ave around 7 tuesday morning.she was badly injured. emergency crews treated her at the scene and she was taken to the hosptial but died a short time later. police are now trying to figure out what happened. after talking with neighbors and reviewing surveillance video, investigators believe the woman lived nearby and was on her regular walk around the neighborhood.according to police, the injuries she suffered were severe but it's not clear how she recieved them. she was apparently walking along the side of the road in a spot with no sidewalk, but there's no conclusive evidence that she was hit by a vehilce. investigators are now hoping an autop

kron 4's charles clifford spent the afternoon listening to fire dispatch audio .... from the first day of the fire. he joins us live now in the newsroom with details. charles. . . yes, this fire started early in the morning last thursday and quickly exploded in size. through out that first day fire fighting resources poured into the area. at one point, the focus became less about stopping the fire and more about saving lives. sot we have eyes on the vegetation fire. natsearly on the morning of november 8th, multiple fire crews were dispatched to investigate reports of a wildfire near the small town of pulgas. almost immediately it became clear the blaze could become a big problem.sotthis has got potential for a major incident. sotgonna have engine 26 go down into pulga and evacuate it.pushed by strong winds the fire spread rapidly westward. responding fire crews struggled to reach the flames. more evacautions were put in place.sotevacuation orders already in place for paradise. sotbe ready for additional evacuations.within hours, the fire reached paradise. the roadway

kron 4's charles clifford is live tonight in contra costa county, where the food bank is doing what it can to help fire victims in butte county... charles yeah, it's a very busy time of year for bay area food banks. they have also been seeing more interest because of what's happening with the fire in butte county. natsinside the wearhouse of the food bank of contra costa and solano, workers move pallets of food. making room for incomin donations and loading trucks headed out to drop off spots. this is the busiest time of year for the food bank which provies meals to more than 170,000 people in contra costa and solano counties. on top of that, the food bank is also coordinating donations of food and money to the fire victims in butte county. they estimate that because of the camp fire, demand for services has gone up by about 10 percent.sotfood banks are sort of the second line of defense in a disaster. lisa sherrill is the communications director for the food bank. she says they have been working closely with food banks across the bay area to take make sure fire victims are getting wha

kron-4's charles clifford is live tonight in oakland with a closer look at the video well, we are getting a better understanding of what happened that night back in march but there are still unaswered questions. this is newly released body camera video from the oakland police department. the video was recorded on march 11th when officers responded to reports of a man with a gun lying unconscious on the ground between two houses in the 400 block of 40th street. multiple officers and vehicles, including an armored personal carrier, surround the area. officers with weapons out, repeatedly call out to the man on the ground. nats move your hand away from the gun!!eventually the man appears to sit up and look around. then for reasons that are not exactly clear on the video, police open fire. natsthe suspect died at the scene, he was eventually identified as this man . .joshua pawlik he was apparently found with a gun and a backpack full of money. how he came to be in possession of those items, and why he was lying on the ground is unclear.sotthis is a case where deadly force did not have to be

kron 4's charles clifford spoke with a doctor who says he has a lot of patients coming in with problems. natsdr gary bean is a pediatrician in oakland. he says that many of his patients are struggling with the thick smoke blanketing the bay area. sotwe've seen a lot of people coming in with respiratory issues. especially our asthmatics. especially those who were in the fringe are now in the breech and need additional respiratory support. dr bean says that fire smoke usually hangs around for a just a couple days but this smoke is thick and people aren't getting any relief and that is causing problems.sot and that's why our mucus is becoming more compacted. there's more inflammation in our chests. more coughing. just a need to get this mucus out.bean says that the best thing to do right now is just stay indoors. he says that wearing a mask is not a guaranteed way to avoid breath in the smoke.sotan effective mask is one thats been fit. if you have like a beard or facial hair it's not going to fit well. it's better than nothing but the best is a fit tested mask.he also says it can be diffic

kron 4's charles clifford is in san francisco with a look at what the city is doing to prevent problems. natswednesday afternoon, an sf puc crew was hard at work clearning drains in the city's north beach neighborhoodnats teams like this one regularly check to make sure that san francisco's vast network of storm drains and sewers are clear of clogsif they find a problem, they can lower a powerfull suction tube down into the drain to clear out any leaves or debris. natthey then flush the drain with water and check the nearby sewer lines to make sure that everything is flowing.natsthis drain is clear, but many are not. just a small pile of leaves can block a drain and flood the area.natsthis was a city worked clearing leaves earlier in the day.natand while crews are doing what they can to fix problems, the puc is also asking residents to do their part to keep the water flowing. if a storm drain is clogged, clear it out if you can do so safely.clear gutters and drain around your home and use sand bags to prevent flooding in garages or low lying area.avoid flushing wet wipes or anything tha

(vicki) kron 4's charles clifford is in contra costa county, where the food bank is doing what it can to help fire victims in butte county... natsinside the wearhouse of the food bank of contra costa and solano, workers move pallets of food. making room for incomin donations and loading trucks headed out to drop off spots. this is the busiest time of year for the food bank which provies meals to more than 170,000 people in contra costa and solano counties. on top of that, the food bank is also coordinating donations of food and money to the fire victims in butte county. they estimate that because of the camp fire, demand for services has gone up by about 10 percent.sotfood banks are sort of the second line of defense in a disaster. lisa sherrill is the communications director for the food bank. she says they have been working closely with food banks across the bay area to take make sure fire victims are getting what they need.sot we will be doing weekely distributions in oroville and chico.and while they are sending food to butte county, they are also recieveing and distributing finan
