kron 4 charles clifford reports. >> the san jose police department says that 3 men have been taken into custody and they are believed to stolen more than a million dollars in items from homes all across west santa clara county. good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us today. the san jose police department announced on wednesday that 3 men, alberto vallejo, gonzalo valencia ramos and jaime martinez, arroyo are facing 72 counts of burglary. the trio is accused of spending 7 months burglarizing homes in san jose cupertino, saratoga campbell, in mountain police say the 3 specifically targeted asian household and would often enter through the rear of the home and take jewelry and other small valuable items while ignoring things like electronics. they are believed to have committed dozens of burglaries in multiple cities. and those crimes were initially being investigated separately until police recognized him on surveillance video and begin connecting the cases, the 3 were taken into custody on tuesday and police searched multiple locations. multiple search warrants were executed in the

kron 4 charles clifford has that story. >> on monday morning, the rapid response network in santa clara county, a nonprofit that monitors ice activity says they observed agents ice agents in 2 different locations across the county. this comes just a day after agents were spotted in san jose. this is video recorded on sunday near story road and king wrote it shows what appears to be ice agents operating near a target store. only a handful of agents were seen in. this does not appear to be a large-scale operation. the rapid response network, which was at the scene has said they believe the agents were targeting specific individuals with at least one person being detained over the weekend. san jose mayor matt mahan said in a statement that the police department was notified that ice was carrying out an operation in san jose. adding that i sincerely hope that ice remains focused on enforcement actions related to violent and serious criminals harming our city, not neighbors who are contributing and law-abiding members of our community. the mayor also says that the san jose police department

kron 4 charles clifford has the details. >> highway 37 here across the north base used by thousands of commuters every single day. but the stretch of roadway is prone to flooding. i also see some real problems with congestion right now. highway 37 narrows to one lane in each direction between mare island in vallejo and state route one 21 near the snow. the speedway on an almost daily basis. these bottlenecks create congestion in both directions that can sometimes last for hours. >> recognizing how important this route is through thousands of commuters each day caltrans has spent years developing a plan to improve the traffic flow here. >> it's a very important thoroughfare no shortage of citizens in the bay area. >> to that end, they plan to improve the intersection of highway 37 1.21. replace the bridge over to lake creek and to add new lanes in both the east and westbound directions in order to raise the funds needed to maintain this route in the future. they're also considering making this portion of 37 a tolling. but a final decision has not yet been made. the jury still out very m

kron. 4 charles clifford has the details. the jose police department says the 3 men have been taken into custody and they are believed to have. >> stolen more than a million dollars in items from homes all across west santa clara county. good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us today. the san jose police department announced on wednesday that 3 men, alberto vallejo, gonzalo valencia ramos and jaime martinez, arroyo are facing 72 counts of burglary. the trio is accused of spending 7 months burglarizing homes in san jose cupertino. saratoga campbell, in mountain view. police say the 3 specifically targeted asian household and would often enter through the rear of the home and take jewelry and other small valuable items while ignoring things like electronics. they are believed to have committed dozens of burglaries in multiple cities. and those crimes were initially being investigated separately until police recognized him on surveillance video and begin connecting the cases, the 3 were taken into custody on tuesday and pol

. >> the popular tourist hub is preparing to reopen kron 4 s charles clifford has our top story. >> well, here in santa cruz on friday, the war remains close. take a look behind me there. you can see they've still got the the entrance blocked off older. they are allowing some city officials and business owners and repair crews to go in and out as they prepare to reopen the wharf on saturday morning, the city of santa cruz says that following an engineering assessment and sonar examination of the under structure of the war, they believe that it is safe to reopen. obviously the far end of the war that broke free during those big waves on december 23rd that sections could remain closed off, but they say the rest of the work is safe. they also say the coast guard has completed a sonar examination of the area and they've located some heavy equipment, including a crane that fell into the water back on december 23rd. they say they believe that stuff is just sitting underneath the water and not causing any problems for neighbors. they say it's a relief that this iconic war will be reopened. i th

kron 4 charles clifford has the story. >> well, here in seaside on tuesday, denise huskins quinn and her husband, aaron quinn, are reacting to news that their attacker, matthew mueller, is facing additional charges. 47 year-old matthew mueller, who is serving a 40 year prison sentence for kidnapping and denise huskins in 2015 has been accused of committing a series of home invasions across santa clara county during 2009. he's also been charged in a 2015 kidnapping case in contra costa county. and on tuesday, the el dorado county district attorney announced that mueller is also believed to have kidnapped and sexually assaulted a victim as far back as 1993 when he was just 16 years old. >> that's 2 decades of this mindset that he was living >> on tuesday afternoon, denise huskins quinn and her husband, aaron, spoke to the media about the recent developments in these cases. we had all the markers of a serial predator. >> and it's unfortunate that it's taken this long to be able really give some better clarity and hopefully some sense of peace to these other victims. the new charges come
