rights attorney and a senior law enforcement analyst and former philadelphia police commissioner, charles ramsey. i want to begin with your response on today's arraignment on all five of these fired officers entering not pollute guilty pleas. >> we expected that. the lawyers already indicated that that is what their clients were going to do. i wasn't surprised that none of the former officers had anything to say but i think what we did see after the court hearing by listening to these lawyers, we are starting to get a did sense of what the defense is going to be for the defendants. i think he said his client did not strike mr. nichols and that his client did not have the culpability that many of us thought we witnessed on those videotapes so i think we are going to start to see these distinguished themselves as defendants. they don't want to be lumped in together, they want to make individual cases and ask the jurors to evaluate their conduct individually rather than what we have been talking about is a collected body, a group conduct. >> you just heard ramon talk about all of the other cases th

back with me now, shimon prokupecz, charles ramsey, sean tuner who happen to be on campus when they got this alerts. let me start with you. what happened at a 15 tonight? >> yes, alison, around 8:15, maybe a little bit later, 18 we all, everyone on campus got an alert on our phone that really caught us off-guard. it indicated there was an active shooter on campus, shots were fired. notified us that the campus was going into a shelter in place status. that alert came out and for those of us who was leading the campus, i wish especially campus at this time. they got off campus and turned on the police scanner to find out what was going on. to be really candid, i mean, we expect back to this but be a situation where someone may be heard something and thought there were shots fired. and very quickly became clear that this was a real tragedy unfolding on campus. i immediately got home, i had people in my building on campus that were working late. for most of us here on campus in a leadership position, we went to a motive trying to ensure that not only our students but our staff members, all

and now, joining us is senior law enforcement officer charles ramsey former police chief of washington that we have now up to 20 hours of additional video to be released, and the d.a. was saying to wolf last night in the interview, the audio after the beating, and even after the ambulance took nichols away could be particularly relevant, and why do you think that could be? >> well, i think that the audio is going to be pretty damaging to the department, to the profession as a whole quite frankly. officers talking, and even afterwards about what took place. it can't possibly be good. i imagine that almost all of it is going to be body camera foo footage. i think that it is going to show that the stop was not justify and the people who failed to render aid, and the individual who wrote the report who is apparently not one of the five who were indicted and was that individual there, and would they have known what took place, and then falsified a report intentionally, and that is going to be something they'd be on the lookout for. >> that is a good point. i wanted to ask you about that, be

. >>> joining me now cnn senior law enforcement analyst charles ramsey who led the police forces in walk washington and philadelphia. chief, we're talking about another one now. so you watch this video. do you see anything there that justifies officer tyler firing that shot? >> no, the shooting itself isn't justified but when you look at the video and it's rather difficult, you have to really slow it down to actually, you know, get a handle on what actually took place in terms of the officers at the moment they fired the shot. now, i know when you do the still shot you saw his hands up. it is at night and whether or not the officers thought he was armed or what have you, i have absolutely no idea, but the shooting is not justified, clearly he wasn't armed. >> so, when we see the officer, officer tyler first pull out the weapon, first draw the weapon. he's still in the apartment in the hallway, bagley hasn't jumped off the balcony, the officer certainly hasn't run the other way, gone down the stairs and approached him. does it make sense that the weapon is drawn that early? >> well, it wo

we're going to continue the conversation with cnn law enforcement analyst, jonathan wackrow, and charles ramsey. thank you both for being here. chief ramsey, let me start with you. we have heard some stunning details from the father of the gunman about what was going on. what goes through your mind, what do you hear when you learn these details? >> well, i mean, it's another example of someone who is certainly going through some kind of mental health crisis, has access to a gun, and uses that gun unfortunately to commit a very horrific crime. let me just offer my condolences to the families of those students that were murdered yesterday. i mean, these sorts of things should not hap nl but they continue to happen over and over and over again. and of course, we'll be dissecting all this as they go to take a deeper dive in this individual, his history and so forth, but the bottom line is he was able to get his hands on a gun. and use it. and it's just another example of the horrific gun violence that happens in this country every day. >> it is indeed, and speaking of other incidents of gun violenc

for more on the memphis police investigation, let's talk to cnn's senior law enforcement an liz charles ramseyiewing all the cases? it sounds like it could dredge up a lot of uncomfortable information for the city of memphis. >> no doubt it will. i think the d.a. is very smart to take the initiative doing that. people don't realize, these have far-reaching effects. look at all the cases. it is a pretty strong case that they lied. then it's logical to think the same you know this they've heard in previous cases. the d.a. is going through even one. those cases where the officers' testimony is what led to the conviction, not independent witnesses. those are the ones they'll be looking at very, very closely. and certainly, defense council will be lined up for their clients to look to see whether or not they can get a conviction overturned. and police documents show they took photos and texted one image to at least five people. that seems strange. is that against protocol? >> sure. that's a violation of policy right there. you just don't do things lick that. there is nothing about this case that's

i want to bring in the executive director of the memphis naacp, vickie terry, charles ramsey and arevaou attended the funeral. what did you make of both the remembrances and the demands for justice? >> oh, my goodness, you know, as you said, it was so emotional just hearing his family do reflections of him when he was a child. and in the end, we're talking about the reform we want to happen. his mom said he was sitting here on an assignment, and i totally agree. i'm sitting here now, and my emotions are still high, you know, but it was a celebration of life, it was a celebration of his life. and i am here today, and i would like to just reach out across the country to all mothers, all aunts, all women that have a young man, a nephew or sons in their life, to make sure that we push forward with them to pass this act. talking to george floyd's brother, he was here, him and his wife. and we have so many others that have had their families destroyed by police brutality. so we've got to do something. we've got to act now. that's what i'm asking, we need to act now. >> chief ramsey is with u
