[applause] >> welcome back. as i mentioned in the beginning of this show, this is not weight loss for dummies. it is for thoughtful people, but one of my favorite stories about dumb ways to lose weight comes from a television station in texas. when i arrived at the studio, the producer, with whom i'd worked before, looked thinner than the last time i saw him. when i asked him what he was doing, he told me he lost 20 pounds on a medically supervised 500-calorie-a-day diet. whoa. i don't like those diets, because they don't teach people how to live in the real world. they're a quick fix, and people usually just gain the weight right back. the day i was at the studio was the last day of his diet, and as a way to celebrate, he had two of his favorite deep-dish pizzas flown in from chicago so that he could eat them over the weekend.
