i've been shot in the back. >> pelley: and charlie d'agata is joining us now in kenya.rlie, investigators are trying to figure out whether a british woman was involved with the terrorists and interpol put out an arrest warrant for her today. what can you tell us about that? >> reporter: well, her name is samantha liewghtwait, scott, a 29-year-old muslim convert, the daughter of a british soldier. she's known to have links with al-shabaab. in britain she's known as the "white widow." she's the widow of one of the suicide bombers in the 2005 london transit bombings. now, she's thought to have resurfaced here after disappearing from britain somewhere in this region between somalia and kenya. it's clear the kenyan authorities want to speak to her but there was no mention of the attack at the westgate mall in the request to interpol. >> pelley: charlie d'agata, thanks very much. now to news and science. scientists working with the united nations have been poring over data on climate and greenhouse gases. their report is due out tomorrow. but anyone expecting it to show stead

charlie d'agata joins us from the westgate mall in nairobi. charlie, fill us in on what's happening on the ground there in nairobi this morning. >> reporter: good morning, susan. what's the situation here? well, the situation is changing. we're getting information from the kenyan government that they've taken control. the military's taken control of this mall here, sweeping through four floors of it but there was an explosion this morning and that was followed by gunfire. we've seen more soldiers and paramilitary moving into that area. that have widened cordon around the mall. this is still an ongoing siege. we heard earlier this morning, kenyan officials say there may be as many as seven militants still holed up there. they've released most if not all of the hostages, but questions remain about that, too, because we haven't seen any hostages in days. there are more than 60 people unaccounted for. kenyans are wondering where these people are. they've closed the triage. they're not expecting more people or victims or hostages to come out today.

charlie d'agata is at the scene in nairobi. charlie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, charlie and norah. there's a sense of relief as the siege has come to an end but they're also coming to terms with the shock over what's unfolded in the past few days, the fate of the hostages and what took place inside the mall. flags will flying at half-mast as kenyans are mourning the loss of the hostages at the westwood mall. details are finally beginning to emerge about the assault. what's clear is none of the hostages made it out aliej. this video shows the actions of those who braved the assault. kenyan authorities reportedly tried to negotiation but they didn't even respond. there are also reports that as a helicopter hovered overhead they started executing hostages, tossing their bodies off the roof. any rescue operation was further hampered by smoke from fire set by gunman. in announcing the siege was over, the president said kenya stared down evil and triumphed. >> we have shamed our attackers. >> they said three floors in th
