the store owner who was killed was charlie ly. a masked man with a gun burst in demanding money.the time was taking a nap on the floor inside of the store but woke up as the robbery unfolded. his brother says that ly refused to open the register and that's when the gunman opened fire on him. >> i don't know why. how much? $100. $200. kill people in cold blood. you know. ow. very sad. >> reporter: relatives tell me ly and his wife have owned the store for at least a decade and they work seven days a week here and they have been robbed in the past. the store does have surveillance cameras. police right now are working to try to pull some of that video from inside of the store that may be able to give them clues about who the gunman was last night, trying to identify the killer in this case or maybe get a description on a get-away car. again, that is all part of the unfolding investigation. obviously you have the family of the store owner heart broken by what has taken place. they're hoping that anyone out there with any information on this shooting last night will put in a call to

police say charlie ly was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at jim's liquor store on quimby road monday night. police are still looking for the shooter. tonight's vigil will be held at 7:30 at the liquor store where ly was killed. ( mark ) more than 100 people are behind bars after a massive sting operation in the bay area. several pounds of drugs... plus hundreds of guns and several stolen cars were also seized. it was called "operation cold day." it was conducted by the a-t-f. most of the arrests happened in san francisco and san mateo counties. the operation actually began two years ago after more than 100 zip cars were stolen in san francisco in less than six weeks. investigators say most of the charges include auto theft and illegal firearm possession and sales.
