joining me now to talk about this even more is charlie sykes. we have a fophoto on our screenf donald trump signing those executive orders. i'll pose this to you, charlie. it seems like what we're seeing here is something we saw quite often on the campaign trail. donald trump says one thing, his aides, his spokes people try to walk it back and give it some shades of gray. basically, push it into the realm of reality in some cases or l, what is legal. we saw that with the muslim ban. donald trump said we're going to ban all muslims. his aides said no, it's extreme vetting, it's from certain countries and not a religious ban. we have not heard from donald trump, who's the president, i don't want to ban all muslims. this is not a muslim ban. >> you're right about the pattern there. i think ari used two words that are very, very important. what we're seeing now is it is not normal and, number two, it's a lie. the reason why it's legitimate to keep pushing back on this voter issue is the administration cannot be allowed to just make up its own facts.

charlie sykes, an amazing report in "the new york times" now about the source of donald trump's thinking on this. there were three staff people who remain unnamed who reported to the times what donald trump said when he said this to the congressional leaders, which is what got this whole story started. he told the story of what he called a famous golfer named bernard langer who apparently was briefly famous at one time a long time ago. while he was standing in line, mr. langer in florida wait fog vote for mr. trump, and then he saw others voting who were clearly illegals and shouldn't be allowed to vote. and then bernhard langer himself was turned away from voting. and it's a completely outrageous thing that happened to bernhard langer. and that's the story he told to the congressional leaders. and "the new york times" has discovered bernhard langer does indeed live in florida. he is a citizen of germany. he does not vote in the united states of america. and that is the source of donald trump -- the only source he cited to the congressional leaders. >> do you remember what you asked anth
