[ applause ] >> the fact that so many people came today is a big surprise to me. >> reporter: after being raced from -- raised there not one but two levels of concrete and sidewalk, it was lifted out. inside the capsule, a special edition copy of the daily progress dated april 13, 1962. other items included a real to real tape -- reel to reel tape of a speech by the then governor. >> i knew basically what was in the capsule and i knew that reel-to-reel tape was in there but it appear there is was two tapes in there. >> reporter: the city is working to find out the content on the second tape. edwin remembers the 1962 burial of the time capsule all too well. as a matter of fact, he was an official photographer for the event 50 years ago. he says he's excited to

track is clear from here to charlottesville. with trains heading south. the restoration of the train station started in 2008, after the mansion was finished. we received funding through the transportation enhancement act. we got a grant from the federal government to help us do this. private donations, especially from the family of russell coffin childs. the restoration was quite an effort. the station was really falling down. the post office had been moved to the colored waiting room. in fact, about a dozen years ago when i started working at montpelier, the post master had this space as his office. this wire cage was still in place and where this box of mail slots was, was his little window to speak to the people who came into the post office. what we decided to do was -- was the montpelier post office was very important to the local community and we didn't want to lose that. so what we decided to do, move the post office to the far room of the station which is beyond this wall, which is what was called the freight room. and t

it is also 84 right now in charlottesville, virginia. we were expecting this former aide -- warmer air to push its way into baltimore. it will be cooler than what you expected. we're looking at the temperatures forecast as we go from this time all the way until about 5:00 p.m.. notice this model is taking us only in the 60's. it is not allowing us to warm up with all of the cloud cover. it is putting temperatures in the 80's and 90's. we will fast-forward 24 hours until tomorrow afternoon. what a difference. you can see this model is forecasting as getting into the mid 80's. a big change coming. we expect a lot of clouds and the forecast. maybe some areas get to near 70 degrees. it is more likely that you will spend most of the day in the 60's. there is still a chance that we will have a thunderstorm popping this afternoon. most areas to stay dry but it is not out of the question to get a few raindrops. the current radar, here is the satellite. all of the clouds from baltimore east, it is the breaking in the cloud cover that concerns us.

right now, the heaviest activity is down towards charlottesville and over on the i-81 corridor. we'll watch that for you as we go through the night and keep a close eye on these storms in western fairfax county, because that's close to where the areas got hit last night. >> we'll talk to you later, thanks, top. >> gary giordano has been charged with indecent exposure. he is a gaithersburg man linked to the disappearance of robyn gardner. giordano was arrested last friday in annapolis. this has nothing to do with the aruba stuff. according to a police report, giordano and a woman were naked in the back of giordano's suv. a parking garage manager had called report a possible sexual activity. we spoke with robyn gardner's exboyfriend about what happened. >> this incident at 5:45 in the afternoon and he had a mattress in the back of his car. it says a whole lot about the guy. >> we did try to reach gary giordano to say what he wanted to say, but he refused to talk to us. >>> d.c. mayor is still out of town tonight and he will not talk about news that his campaign's top money man app

this direction and that is why we're seeing the showers and thunderstorms to the west and to the charlottesville area, i see a pretty healthy cluster of showers and storms and this is looking better than the last hour and this seems to be weakening a bit and are slow movers, so they're producing very heavy rain. the flash flooding could happen with the storms and especially you see a lot of lightning there, too and watch for those storms down to the south and west and along the front and these are slow drifters and trying to drift to the east slowly and we're especially concerned. we don't want to see repeat performness -- performance of what happened last night and that is especially if anything develops over and in fact, i'm going to take you to sentinel radar and show you a dopplerinate of how much rain fell across the region the last 24 hours and there is some places not issuing anything and those storms simply did not move, especially across prince william county and into some of the rogues, we found rain totals as high as five inches, believe it or not and that is not too far from brentsvi

a couple of showers trying to form not far from leesburg over toward areas down to charlottesville, maybe up toward frederick. we'll get in toward the later part of the afternoon now. 5:45, 6:00. now we're seeing showers pushing toward fredricksburg in toward the metro as well. and then for the early part of the night, late evening, look at this. some of the showers are going to pick up. you start to see the yellows, the oranges, the reds, heavier rains. maybe even some rumbles of thunder with this. by midnight it starts to pull away. tomorrow morning we're clearing out. it's going to be a brink northwest wind tomorrow and with that we may see just a spotty shower in a couple of areas near the maryland- pennsylvania border. then cool air really comes in tomorrow night. going to have some lows by friday morning in the lower 40s. so today comfortable, mid-70s. muggy a little bit. muggier this morning. and some showers and isolated thunder returning for later this afternoon and the first part of the night. tonight we're in the 50s. tomorrow 71. we'll have a shower, an isolated one at worst u
