the bulk of the rain from charlottesville just south of elkins, west virginia. a lot of that will be driving north, northeastward later tonight. by 9:00, 10:00 p.m., there will be more wet weather moving in, especially down south, up ir-95. it's looking wet for tomorrow morning. i think early on in the higher humidity, we could see some winds blowing at around 30 to 35 miles per hour. but with tomorrow afternoon storms, there's the front. we could be getting some higher winds, up to about 50, and even 60 miles per hour when that front comes rushing on through. there it is at 10:00 p.m., just about ready to make its way out of our area. so how much rain could we get out of this storm system? any of those downpours, any of those drenching storms could deliver a whole lot of rain in a short period of time. that means the possibility of isolated flooding again. it means that we could see some flash flood warnings go up tomorrow. anywhere between one and over two inches of rain expected across parts of our area by late tomorrow. temperatures tomorrow getting up to 75

i have to confess that i come from charlottesville, which is jefferson's home town. in fact, great importance to the conservation movement over the past 50 years in the u.s. singularly, almost, made possible many of the accomplishments the ticket to president nixon and presidents since then. we feel a great loss today. we have a great legacy to look back upon. i wanted to mention a couple of things. he was, more than anyone, the embodiment of american values. we hear the term american values bandied about a lot during an election year. one of the great american values is valuing nature and conservation. more than almost anybody i have been acquainted with, russell was the embodiment of that. he was an architect and the first head of the environmental quality. he was the founding director of the world wildlife fund and led its work and built it into the largest conservation organization in the world today. he won the presidential medal of freedom. today, we mourn his passing. tomorrow, the world wildlife fund, is staff, and members and everyone represented on this --

now joining us at the university of virginia in charlottesville is farzaneh milani.he is the chair of the department of middle eastern and south asian languages and cultures here at the university, and she's also the author of this book, "words, not swords: iranian women writers and the freedom of movement." farzaneh milani, what's your book about? >> first i would just like to thank you for giving me the honor to speak with you and to introduce my book to your wonderful audience. i would also like to add that i have a joint a point with women's studies. i'm very proud to be a member of that department, that program. "words, not swords" is about segregation in the islamic world. in particular, iran. the focus of the book is on iranian women, although i believe that the main thesis can be applied to the islamic middle east and north africa. i have a dual argument in the book. i argued that in the last 160 years women have been at the forefront of the modernizing movement in iran, and in parts of the middle east and north africa. by desegregating themselves, by desegre
