we've already seen a lot of notice down towards charlottesville. i think that will pick up overnight as it were. let's start with a live look outside, our live michael and son weather cam. we have some light snow across the metro area, 17 still at national. it's hard to get snow here at 17. it's usually just not that cold. winds are dead calm, so no wind chills, no blowing and drifting snow either. here's the radar the past couple hours. it's filling in a little to the west. you can see the heaviest bands. we're talking snowfall rates in the blue 1 to 2 inches per hour which i think will sort of skim southern maryland through the nighttime hours. we'll zoom in and if you see brighter white, that also is moderate snow. over the past couple hours pretty good band of snow pushing into upper montgomery county, now howard county. if you watch closely, you'll see a little blue crossing over 95 north of la plata. heaviest snow is on the northeast side into montgomery county pushing into howard county and still some pretty good snow south of manassas. you'
