well, nearly a week has passed since seattle police abandoned a downtown precinct and protesters took over a six-block area they called chaz capitol hill autonomous zone. now, they've changed the name to chop for capitol hill occupied protest or organized protest. they say autonomous zone gave the wrong impression of their aim. and for now, washington's governor and seattle's mayor are not taking any action to break up the occupation. jonathan hunt is live inside chop with the latest. jonathan. >> reporter: arthel, we're at one of the entrances to the occupied zone. this is one of the main entrances. i want to walk you in here to give you a sense of what it is like. look up the street right now, it stretches several blocks in that direction. hundreds, probably a couple of thousand people here, in fact this afternoon. it's a sunday afternoon and most of these people are people who simply come out to take a look at what is going on here. so where does this go from here? that is the question obviously a lot of people would like to be answered. well, the seattle police chief was on cbs' face the nation earlier today. she said

following orders because it's very clear the mayor of seattle has made a business decision for the police to be on the outside of that chop or chaz zone: it's interesting yesterday there were a couple of 911 calls from people inside the zone hey, somebody started a fire and there has been some vandalism. the cops headed over there, and from the outside, they looked in, they could not see a fire, they did not see any violence or vandalism, so they they did not go inside. nonetheless, this has really attracted the attention of the president of the united states. he sees an issue right here. is he habits described himself as the law and order president. what he says is the governor and the democrats and the mayor have failed to do their job and if they don't do something about what's going on in seattle his worry is it's going to spread to other cities. and the president says he will not let that happen. here he is. >> these people have taken over a vast part, a major part a very good part of a place called seattle. seattle is big stuff. that's a major city we have a governor stiff and a mayor who said this is going to be a love fes
