colonial pipeline days ago that caused havoc with field supplies. for more on that i'm joined by chelsea delaney in frankfurt chelsea 1st colonial pipeline toshiba what's going on. well there's still a lot we don't know about the attack this was reported this morning and it was it came ahead of earnings results from to did release those results of they seem to have access to their systems still it seems that the attack was targeted at their european business which is headquartered here in germany whether they paid ransoms to get access to their systems all of this is still very unclear but in the light of the cloning pipeline talk as well it's certainly something that's more and more concerning for businesses you say i mean cyber attacks becoming more common nowadays is this the cost of doing business. yeah it's really a booming business cyber hacking we've seen over the past several years more and more cyber attacks like these but really this changed a lot last year during the pandemic we saw global ransomware attacks rise by about 485 percent according to one cyber security firm and part of that was because we saw this sudden shift to remote working
