we're going to talk to natasha chen. lot of people wondering how this travel ban will affect passengers flying today. help us understand that. >> good morning, christi and victor. we're talking about the restrictions starting at 5:00 p.m. eastern time today. nonu.s. citizens who have been in mainland chooin in the last 14 days will not be allowed to enter the united states. u.s. citizens lawful permanent residence and their immediate family members, if they have been near the epicenter of this outbreak in the last 14 days, they will be undergoing mandatory quarantine for 14 days. there hasn't been such an order for a quarantine like that in the united states for about 50 years. and then for americans who have been in the rest of mainland china in the last 14 days, they'll have to go through more screening and self-monitoring. all flights from china will be going through seven airports. they include seattle, san francisco, l.a., chicago, jfk and hartsfield jackson in atlanta. we met a woman yesterday who got on one of the

cnn's natasha chen is at hartsfield-jackson airport in atlanta. natasha, the u.s. is imposing travel and quarantine restrictions that haven't been used in 50 years. what exactly is about to go into place? >> reporter: yes. so the restrictions you're talking about, fred, most of them start tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. eastern time. 5:00 p.m. eastern on sunday. the white house and cdc have said that noncitizens, non-u.s. citizens in main land china the last two weeks will be temporarily banned from entering the united states. u.s. citizens, lawful permanent residents and immediate family, if they have been near the epicenter of the outbreak in hubei province, they have to go through a 14 day mandatory quarantine on arrival. if americans have been in any part of the rest of main land china the last two weeks, they'll face screening and self monitoring. but officials say risk of infection for americans is still pretty low. at the same time, because the state department has an advisory for u.s. citizens not to travel to china, a lot of airlines are looking at that and looking
