and he has had a particular fixation on liz cheney. he brought it up in that interview, and he brought her up multiple times on the campaign trail. she is someone who has really gotten under his skin. now, the reason why this holds so much more weight now is given the fact that one, he is going to be president, but two, who he has installed to what he hopes is be the head of the fbi, because part of this is essentially the committee saying that liz cheney should be prosecuted by the fbi, which in trump's world, if all goes according to be planned to plans, would be run by kash patel, a trump loyalist who we believe based on everything we have seen from patel over the last several years, would do whatever it was that trump wanted, including potentially prosecute liz cheney. so i do want to talk a little bit about what's in that report. so here are some of the key findings from that subcommittee report that was sent out by a republican by the house republicans. it says liz cheney colluded with, quote, star witness cassidy hutchinson. aga

and liz cheney and liz cheney and matt gaetz. >> and what do you what do you see this as a legitimate report, this letter? no, i haven't read the report. but a couple of things. article one, section six of the u.s. constitution protects members of congress from criminal and civil cases. she was doing her job. this was a liz cheney. this was a select committee. it was approved by the house. they had lots of witnesses. i mean, it's part of the routine. i mean, if you you can't really i mean, this this would be unconstitutional, probably to go against her. the second thing is, and i'm not a lawyer, but if this did go so that she has to be a defendant, think of the people that she could call that refused to testify before the select committee. kevin mccarthy. what what about that line the president allegedly called you and said, i guess they care more about the election than you do. kevin, on january 6th, all of that. i mean, i mean, this is a can of worms that i don't think really anybody wants to see. >> and speaking of can of worms, i want you to take a listen to what trump's daughter

but one of the things the allegations against liz cheney is that she took a conversation that liz cheney had with a, you know, a former trump aide and misrepresented it as witness tampering. my understanding is you believe that is obviously not illegal. but what do you make of that allegation? >> witness tampering is illegal, but witness tampering is not what actually happened here. even by even by the accused of accusing trump of witness tampering and that that that the allegation is that that was not actually what happened and that people were then enmeshed in legal jeopardy because the accusation was made in the january 6th committee that there was witness tampering happening. >> yeah. >> i mean, i think that's it's fair to criticize the january 6th committee. i don't think they're above criticism, but i also don't think >> donald trump was done hard by, therefore, anything goes the other way. that's retributive, and that's leading us in a very bad direction. and i'll be just as critical of those efforts. thank you very much. as always everyone else. >> hang tight. coming up next. pre

liz cheney did not make that up. we heard from witnesses.think this allegation in the report should be referred for criminal prosecution, there is just no foundation whatsoever for that allegation. >> what is your sense of the bigger picture, of why liz and specifically her communications with cassidy hutchinson, are being manufactured as a potential predicate for investigation? >> look, i think ms. cheney has been a very outspoken critic of the president. she was very, very visible as the vice chair of our committee. as a result, she attracts a lot of attention. there is no question she was vitally involved in our investigation. she is a good lawyer. she asked good questions and she was personally very involved in the day-to-day work of the committee. that is what we should expect from a public servant. she did the right thing by doing her best to try to get the facts and circumstances that informed the attack on the capitol but because of her high profile and how persuasive, i think, she has been, she is a lightning rod. ♪ ♪ >>> thank you
