we'll stay with our helicopter shot while we try to get cheryl hurd back on the line. ing earlier today, a couple of hours ago, we believe police received a tip from that .45 caliber semiautomatic gun was inside of that garbage can about half a mile away from oikos university. just within the last few minutes, police and fire crews are starting now, cheryl said, to sift through this garbage can looking for that possible murder weapon in that mass shooting that killed seven people. >> that tip came from a recycler who spotted what may have appeared to be a weapon. again, this is very close to oikos university. it's at haggenberger and edgewater. police initially were on the scene but then waiting for firefighters to come because apparently the trash can is in a lockdown mode and they needed firefighters to bring the jaws of life and cut the bolt off so they can take it off and examine it piece by piece. you can see officers are sifting through the garbage can. >> for the last couple of days investigators and officers have been looking at the oakland estuary for this gun.
