"scarface"? >> reporter: a tip led federal agents to a massive drug range operation. early wednesday, drug enforcement agents swarmed the lake's community in discovery bay. >> there were plants being taken out of the house. and guns. and even a grenade launcher. >> reporter: the dea sacramento district office, started their investigation in early 2011. among the things seized, 14 indoor marijuana grow operations. 96 pounds of processed pot. 36 firearms, including multiple assault rifles and a grenade launcher. much in this house. >> it's awful. you know, it's bad. it's been a long time coming. it's a gated community. we're not supposed to have countries of car traffic. and there's a lot of unwelcome guests coming down the street. we have small kids. >> reporter: agents also seized some $400,000 in crash. if

we begin our coverage with cheryl hurd, who joins us in oakland with the details. cheryl? >> reporter: raj, we are about a block away from 14th and broadway, the up center of today's may day protests. first of all, let's go overhead in our chopper. i'll give you some of the latest figures that we have. we're live above in our chopper shot at 17th and broadway. there's been 23 arrest. a number of car fires. 19th and broadway. a car fire at 20th and franklin. broken windows at the wells fargo bank. 1300 franklin. there was some vandalism at the internal affairs office. this protest started out early this morning. and it started out maesful. but it started to get violent about 8:30 tonight. as darkness fell, police became the target of angry protesters' anger. they blew rocks, bottles and paint at police. we saw one person taken away in handcu handcuffs. this unrest at oakland's 14th and broadway, comes hours after hundreds of people converged tuesday afternoon. oakland police arrested at least ten people for failing to disperse and failing to follow stayaway orders. but the

cheryl hurd joins us live in concord. >> reporter: well, jessica, we put a call into oakland children's hospital, to get a condition on this young child. but we have yet to hear back from them. meanwhile, family members here are obviously upset about this attack. >> i'm sorry. i'm not sure what's going on. >> reporter: family rushed to the home where a child was bit by the family dog. >> we have the dog at this time. we're looking at other avenues in the case. >> reporter: police say the little girl was attacked here. and then, airlifted from a nearby park to children's hospital. >> right now, we're concerned about taking care of the child. the child is receiving emergency care. there's the potential we'll be investigating whether or not the dog has a require history. if there was the case, there's potential criminal charges. >> reporter: family members did not want to talk to us. one neighbor did not want to appear on camera, says he's seen the dog and knows the owner of the animal. he said the dog was always on the leash and did not appear friendly. another neighbor had this to say. >

cheryl hurd has more. >> reporter: the attack happened at the family home in the 2100 block of gary drive. >> deputies responded to the address at gary drive. when they went into the house, the house was in very much disarray. it had been neglected for a long time. and subsequently, because of that, the father was arrested for child endangerment. >> reporter: the boy suffered severe wounds to his face. his mom also injured, possibly trying to protect her son. this is the second dog attack involving a toddler in the east bay in two days. on monday, a family pit bull attacked a 2 1/2-year-old girl in her front yard. the dog was put down and will be tested for rabies. that case has been sent to the d.a.'s office, to determine if charges will be filed. >> any child should be supervised with any dog. any dog can bite. >> reporter: allison linguist is the executive director. >> the children can behave in ways that really frighten daupgs. they run. they dream. if they trip and fall on a dog, or try to take a dog's toy. these are things that the dog will respond to. >> reporter: lindquist is lunc
