. >> and i'm cheryl jennings. two men are recovering in the hospital and now police want witnesses to come forward. >> live from san francisco. >> reporter: good news this morning the conditions have approved for the three men that were rushed here at san francisco general hospital. they were injured during that 49ers-raiders game. we have talked to the father of the most seriously injured victim this morning. he says his son was stepping out of his truck to help a friend that was getting beaten up and that is he was shot. his son is recovering to reconstruct his intestine. hospital spokesman says his condition has improved to fair, he was initially brought here as critical. one of the other men were shot in the face. that is described as a superficial wound a san rafael resident was beaten unconscious and he is listed in fair condition this morning. police are still looking for suspects in all three attacks. the mayor says they are trying to track down those that are responsible for the violence. >> i'm going to

i'm cheryl jennings. >> i'm kristen sze. some oakland community members are denouncing the city leader call for fur chews and gang injunction following the drive-by shooting death of a 3-year-old boy. abc7's amy hollyfield is live at the shooting scene. what is happening? >> this is what everybody wants to prevent, memorials like this one. this is what the community created where a 3-year-old boy is shot to death. this is the location that advocates have chosen for the press conference this morning and they're saying that the gang injunkses are not the way to prevent violence. city council member de la fuentes said he will call for more gang injunction in oakland and said this at the funeral of carlos nava. the argument is if the gang members had been listed on a gang injunction they wouldn't have been able to hang out together and maybe the shooting would haven't happened. opponents say that is a stretch. but the councilmember wants to try it. >> i think from the mayor to the city council we have to not just come to the eve

. >> i'm cheryl jennings. a massive effort is underin sac prevent another tragic kidnapping and rape case like jaycee dugard. nancy and phillip garrido are the focus after the conviction for kidnapping jaycee dugard and holding her for 18 years. amy hollyfield has more. amy? >> reporter: here is the report they're going through inside in hearing now. i counted 35 examples of when phillip garrido's parole should have been revoked. at one point in here, they called the federal agent supervising garrido utterly incomp tant. they are detailing the top five mistakes made in the case [ one, he was released from prison in 1988. though he was supposed to be serving 15 years for rape, he only serve 11. and also, the mental health expert was too trusting especially since garrido fooled everyone. >> so the biggest problem throughout the mistakes is the failure of law enforcement state and federal and local to identify phillip garrido as who he really is. a dangerous sexual predator and master manipulator. >> reporter: al

i'm cheryl jennings. >> i'm kristen sze. today was the first day of trading after a standard & poor's downgrade and investors showed their worry. >> leslie brinkley talked to investors about this and tells us more. >> the rumors swirl about rumors of a double-dip recession. i'm at the floor of the new york stock exchange where things got off to a rocky start. stocks opened down 227 points on news from europe, where markets dropped 3-4%. and asia where the market lost 2%. by mid-morning the dow dipped lower down 3%, with some analysts saying it could have been worse. >> no, we could have been down 1,000 at the open. i think overall, our electronic markets all across the united states did very well. handling the increase of volume. it helped that the s&p did this on friday afternoon evening. people could digest it. we could have a little more orderly response on a monday. >> then there was more bad news from standard & poor's, the agency that downgraded u.s. on friday. they downgraded the debt of government backed mortgage gia

. >> and i'm cheryl jennings. two men are recovering in the hospital and now police want witnesses to come forward. >> live from san francisco. >> reporter: good news this morning the conditions have approved for the three men that were rushed here at san francisco general hospital. they were injured during that 49ers-raiders game. we have talked to the father of the most seriously injured victim this morning. he says his son was stepping out of his truck to help a friend that was getting beaten up and that is he was shot. his son is recovering to reconstruct his intestine. hospital spokesman says his condition has improved to fair, he was initially brought here as critical. one of the other men were shot in the face. that is described as a superficial wound a san rafael resident was beaten unconscious and he is listed in fair condition this morning. police are still looking for suspects in all three attacks. the mayor says they are trying to track down those that are responsible for the violence. >> i'm going to

. >> i'm cheryl jennings. they have continued to try to get the man to surrender peacefully, and he has barricaded himself with a woman inside so they are treating this as a hostage situation. terry mcsweeney has more. >> 24 hours and counting in the hostage standoff. the gunman is holed up in the second floor room on the front of the hotel. as he mentioned, he has a woman with him. that's his girlfriend. police consider her a hostage. 580 has reopened, thanks to the quick thinking of a san rafael police officer and a big piece of metal. 80 police officers and sheriff deputies are outside and inside the hotel. and have been since shortly after the hostage standoff began at 10:30 yesterday morning. that's when the man whose name police are not releasing to the public fired a shot from the second floor hotel room when the police came to arrest him. >> it was fired in the direction of 580. we can't confirm where it landed. >> concerned that the next shot might hit someone in a vehicle on the freeway, the c.h.p. c

. >> i'm cheryl jennings. a massive effort is underway in sacramento right now to prevent another tragic kidnapping and rape case like jaycee dugard. nancy and phillip garrido are the focus after the conviction for kidnapping jaycee dugard and holding her for 18 years. amy hollyfield has more. amy? >> reporter: here is the report they're going through inside in hearing now. i counted 35 examples of when phillip garrido's parole should have been revoked. at one point in here, they called the federal agent supervising garrido utterly incomp tant. they are detailing the top five mistakes made in the case. . >> i'm cheryl jennings.ttorney general has cracked down on a mortgage operation she says was a fraud. >> thousands were led to believe lawyers would get them out of foreclosure, they found themselves out thousands of dollars. we are here now with the investigation. >> here is how it started. the lawyers had a list of homeowners facing foreclosure, and that is a matter of public record. and then, these lawyers and others related to the operation began reaching out to these homeowners, convincing them they were on their side. it wasn't only homeowners in california they were targeting. the state attorney general said homeowners facing foreclosure were told by these law firms there was a way out. >> they were reaching out to them. by letter first, then telephone call. suggesting that they could help those homeowners get out
