take a look behind me at that beautiful view of the chesapeake bay. things are pretty smooth and now on the chesapeake bridge, but what an eventful morning we had here. at around 6:30, calls started coming in for an abandoned vehicle on the eastbound span. take a look at some of the video from news chopper 7. you can eat a man described by authorities as distraught. he climbed over the rail and was literally perched on a support beam under the bridge, his feet dangling about 20 stories above the water after talking with a man for a while, rescue crews were able to grab him and bring him back over to safety. a lot of holiday traffic and even some daily commuters we spoke with left very frustrated. traffic was stopped for nearly two hours. calling it a record travel weekend. nearly 960 6000 people in the region will be heading out of town, and that the most since 2005. for some, the morning did not go as planned. was really excited to go to the beach with my mom. it was right when the sunrise was happening. i told the tall man you get to see the sunrise

news 4's meagan mcgrath is live at the chesapeake bay bridge at the toll booth. how is traffic looking right now, meagan? >> reporter: well, you can see behind me live here at the toll booth this can often be a choke point, and right now everything is looking pretty good. you can see that we have a slight -- a little bit of a slowdown here especially in the lanes where people are paying cash. but the ez pass, only lanes in the far left, those folks pretty much going right through. we have a slowdown once you get through the toll booth itself because we have 11 lanes going into three lanes. so there is a little bit of drag, but once you get that merge taken back up on the bridge. so great time to leave. that's what the experts had said. they predicted actually yesterday would be the peak travel day for a lot of people leaving town and that today would not be as bad. and that's what we're seeing out here this morning. they say that the best time to leave today is 11:00 a.m., so really right now if you're going to be crossing the bridge that's your best time. in ter

i understand from crabbing friends that if you are into chesapeake bay blue crabs, crabs have been shedding the past couple of days, so maybe, you know, you have to get crabs, order them early for the weekend. all the beach information for you. with something that just was released by the national hurricane center, they issued their summer outlook, 2016 official hurricane outlook. they are calling for 10 to 16 storms. that is the range. that is the average that we expect of named storms. 12 is their average. or 10 to 16 is the average. 12 is the concourse. six hurricanes, and maybe up to three major hurricanes. the system just starting off here on june 1 officially, but already, we're looking at a system out of the atlantic ocean that may in fact become tropical storm bonnie later today. that was a nice view from tysons corner. plenty of sunshine, a little haze in the sky, high levels of grass pollen, tree pollen. moderate was the rating for mold spores today. wind coming out of the southeast by 6:00 p.m. this evening. we think the heaviest storms will stay well to the west of the area. the

i'm in chesapeake, virginia.ed back to chesapeake after living in another school district not even 30 minutes away in hampton. my children were previously in the chesapeake school district and we are back in chesapeake there is more of an academic heart for my son who is high functioning autism. as far as for my daughter who is nonverbal, in her classroom you have less students. you have three aides and a teacher and a nurse for one of the other students inside the classroom. -- she was put in a school outside of the district to accommodate her needs. only issue is that there was a delay in her diagnosis because at 18 months around two years old i took her to be diagnosed -- but they delayed diagnosis. my feeling is that it had a negative effect on her. host: thank you. this mother talking about how she moved from one district to another to, they what she felt her child's needs were is something i see a lot. parents vote with their feet in a way. there are networks of parents and they know that this district will
