chicago. chicago is one of the worst cities in the nation when it comes to gun violence. we see gun trafficking as a major problem in chicago. trafficking from out-of-state guns coming into illinois is a huge problem. we have tried to tackle issues in the general assembly. there was a package of law passed earlier in the year that the governor signed to try to address gun violence. at the end of the day, when it comes to gun violence in a community like chicago, or like my home town of springfield, we need to have good programs on the street that introduce with folks before they get to that point. we have cut back on some of that funding. i have not been a big supporter of changes we have seen from gun laws that come from a conservative district. i am a proud supporter of the second amendment. some of the programs on the ground in neighborhoods interacting with folks before , it can to the violence really help them through those situations. as a state we need a priority on those programs to make sure we have programs in place that allow us to address gun violence on the neighborhood level and make our state a safer place th
