chicago police issued a community alert after a man tried to solicit sex from a 14- year-old boy. it happened in the 49-hundred block of west fullerton, around nine monday night. police say the boy was walking, when a man came up to him and asked for sexual relations. the boy was able to run away. a church employee in cicero is jailed on more than two million dollars bond, after being charged with sexually abusing at least six boys. police say juan ferreras lured boys as young as nine years old to his apartment, then abused them. ferreras worked at sonido de alabanza church on west 25-th street. he is the son of the pastor. the office of congressional ethics is investigating congressman bobby rush. right now we don't know what the congressman is being investigated for. in december, the tribune reported that his wife earned more than 300-thousand dollars as his campaign consultant over the last five years. some campaign money also went to the church rush started. rush's attorney says they'll cooperate with the investigation, but the situation being reviewed doesn't warrant any ethic

dozens of violent crimes are being under-reported by the chicago police department. the city's inspector general's office says the department's numbers are low because it doesn't count every victim. state guidelines say police reports should count victims because sometimes there's more than one incident. but a sample of police reports involving assaults in 2012, revealed some victims were left out because they were counted as one incident. the police department is calling for a review and is blaming former superintendent jody weis for not updating how crimes are counted. federal investigators have concluded, excessive speed contributed to last month's crash of a blue line c-t-a train at o'hare airport. an operator was fired for falling asleep as the train pulled into the terminal. but beyond that, investigators say the bumper post that should have stopped the train didn't leave enough room for a trip switch to activate the train's emergency brakes. the trip switch needed to be moved. the transit workers union adds, the train should be designed to stop automatically b
