now that we're chilly we're going to stay chilly.ne day that i would characterize as warm coming up over the next several. as a matter of fact, it's going to be cold tonight. the opposite. santa rosa down to 39. napa 39. concord dropping down to 44. fairfield, vacaville, 43. san rafael 44 degrees. so two things. two different fronts to talk about. now, we're going to get glancing blows with both because we have the ridge of high pressure that's been with us for a while taking the meat out of the fronts. but the first one will give us cloud cover. rain stays to our north but notice the cloud cover spilling over northern california northwestern nevada heading towards us. you may have seen it before sunset. we will have a blanket of cloud cover over top of us and you will start off saturday cloudy. sunshine in the afternoon. high pressure keeps the rain to the north and cold air will envelope about 90% of the lower 48 but not us. we'll be chilly but not cold. now we are looking at next week where our high pressure dome moves us farther

man were we chilly today! look at these temperatures already. down to 58 in san jose. 59 in santa rosa. concord 61. and oakland 57. let's talk about where we're going tonight because it's going to be chilly in the north bay. many of you will drop down to the upper 30s. the cities of santa rosa and napa staying at 40. fremont waking up to 42, concord 44 and mountain view 47 degrees. so what's going to be on for the next couple of days? we are still being dominated by this big ridge of high pressure. but there is a very active storm track that we are not tapping into. all the activity will stay to the north and cold air will stay to our east but as we roll through time here, that high pressure dome will sag a little bit to the south. that will give us a west-to- east flow so it will be enough to keep us dry. the rain will miss us but we will tap into a little bit of that chilly air and i'm pretty confident that we will not see a 70-degree day for the next seven days. so what to expect over the next several days, we're talking about less fog if any

it's chilly right now changes on the way. let's take a look at some of the numbers here with the wjz mobile weather lap and weather station. we're looking at temperatures setting just under 42 degrees. so it is cooling off quickly with that sunset. but again, some changes are headed our way. i'm going to take you to a couple of graphics. first the jet stream forecast. the jet stream separates that cool air from the warm air. it's dipped down throughout the day today and tonight. so that's helped to pull in some of that cold air located in the polls and in canada and through our neighborhood. but it's going to migrate toward the north as we head up toward midweek. so we are going to be trending mild. just how mild? we'll be looking at widespread 60s for wednesday and thursday. closer to 70 degrees. but that's going to come at a cost. that means a little rainfall in the forecast by thursday. bob will have those details coming up in your exclusive first warning weather forecast. for now we are live at the weather lab here. back
