[applause] my name is jack bear and for the last 30 years i had the honor of working for the san francisco giants and for a great many of those years, i had the distinct pleasure working with many of you on all of this. we are still putting a few finishing touches on the park, some light, way finding signs, picnic benches and will reinduce the messages engraved in tiles and part of the park. more later, but not today. we removed the construction fencing surrounding the park just a few weeks ago. on the morning of giant opening day and what seemed like just minutes the park was full of people, exploring this corner of the waterfront. by all accounts, they liked it. we have a great lawn overlooking the bay. we have something that the neighborhoods of north beach and south beach do not have, a beach. [laughter] there is a gathering grove, a storm water garden, food trucks, and willie mccuvy returned perched gracefully on the shoreline of the china basin channel or some refer to it mccove

and this is actually been true for china basin park. en for two weeks and we've seen dogs, dog, parents, bikers, kids playing in the sand. we've even seen our first bride and groom take photos in the park. >> organizers also teased the park's first event that will be free to the public, telling people to mark their calendars for may 11th. i've already taken a run on that trail and it is beautiful. all right, the list of top high schools is out. the number of bay area compa es california, us news and world report did the rankings and lowell high school in san francisco came in seventh, followed by pacific collegiate charter in santa cruz, lynbrook high in san jose and doctor tj owens. gilroy early college academy. the rankings were based on several factors, including college readiness, test scores and graduation rates. the alameda county fair has released its full concert series lineup, and it includes some big name performers. bay area hip hop legend e-40 will be among the featured performers. he's set to take the stage on june 20th. it

i'm in the china basin park, which is now open to the public. this is the bike path or you can see oracle park off there in the distance behind me. let's go and take a look at some video talk about this park a little bit. it covers about 5 acres along mccovey cove here. there is the bike path. as i mentioned, they also have really nice bathrooms here. new bathrooms of got a beach, a small dog park. they've got about an acre open-space meadow there. we can go out, have a picnic and look over towards the water. they've also got benches and a recycled water system here that all the laws or water using recycled water from the nearby new buildings that they put in here in mission rock. now the mayor at a ribbon cutting this morning talked about how this is just one small part of a much larger plan that's been in the works for decades to redevelop this area. >> it includes residents, families, a new school being built so much has changed in this, right. this is a new neighborhood of san francisco. >> yes, it is. here in china basin park is open full ti
