we're also following breaking news from oakland's china town neighborhood. one person is dead after a robbery attempt at a marijuana grow house. ktvu tara mother yourty was first on the scene. >> good morning tara. >> good morning. we just learned that one of the intruders shot and killed a dog when they entered the house that you see behind me on 7th 7th street. and then they turned the gun on the caretaker of this marijuana grow house. that caretaker has been detained for questioning. police say he shot and killed one of the three men that tried to, they believe, steal marijuana around quarter to five this morning. the other two suspects ran away and police are not sure if they're armed or not. police have located the caretakers weapon and another gun they believe belonged to one of the suspects. >> upon arrival they found one person deceased on scene. they detained one individual that was inside the house, and right now we're trying to evaluate if this is a home invasion robbery in which the homeowner defended himself or if this is strictly an aggressor.

police are trying to find out what led to a brutal attack near china town. someone severely beat a man in alley. this happened near the 500 block of h street in northwest. rescuers took the victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries. so far, no arrests. >>> also new this morning, firefighters say a domestic dispute was the reason for a house fire in prince george's county. the fire broke out just after midnight on chapel wood lane in capitol heights. police are not saying exactly how that fire started but they are saying it started because of a fight between twoeople inside. the man is in the hospital this morning. no word though on his injuries. >>> about the same time another fire displaced one family in northeast waurg. this one happened in the 3,000 block of franklin street. investigators say the fire started in the basement and quickly spread throu the house and into the attic. no within was home at the time if red cross help that family now. the fire remains under investigation. >>> a developing story out west where a bad summer for wildfire
