do you like chipotle?e in with a 45 multiple, if you rallied 13% into these numbers effectively from july 6th through today's close, it was up from $600 to $675. we've got a company difficult to support these comps. technical things like short interest down in this company. i think this is the kind of thing -- we haven't seen gopro, but this is what the market needs to see out of high multiple stocks. if you are investing in fast food, you don't want to chase a high multiple. >> it has to be comp store sales increasing 4.3%. this is always going to be the number to watch. last year weren't we at 17%, 18%? >> even though they had such a high same-store sales number last quarter and beat earnings because they warned it would be lower going forward, the stock dropped and now we are seeing the same reaction. >> the mood of the market is changing. we are getting away from these momentum players of the past. in the past when they would report a number they beat on the top end and bottom line. would have kept goi

it was lunchtime at chipotle. i was there and there was a long line down the block in midtown manhattan, where there's roughly 5 billion choices you can eat lunch and people were lining up for chipotle. true costs went up and the companies that raise their prices are the ones that can, the ones with the loyal user base like starbucks and chipotle. we knew the customer would pay with the minimum wage going up. the places this hurts employees, mcdonald's won't be raising their prices anytime soon. they don't have a loyal customer base right now. the employees will be will get squeezed less money to go arnold hire fewer people pure economics. >> jonas? >> look all costs get passed onto consumer. if the company is successful they'll have a profit margin. there's not some magic pot of money they'll eat the cost of labor doubling. oh we have to cut back on the corporate jet. the dollar men is going to go away. but all these same cities we noted, you're already paying probably 50% more than you should for a lot of goods

is chipotle losing its heat? an article saying the stock could lose as mmm as 20% as it struggles to keep growing. it's our call of the day. i wonder what you think of this. the stock down 17% already from its february high. they've had two consecutive quarters where revenue came in a little bit light. what's the deal here? >> a little bit light. i think that was the key, scott. they were just a smidge underneath what they were locking for. you look at the rest of their numbers, i'm still impressed. yes, there are numbers. you look at the revenue growth. you look at the cash flows, there are still reasons why i think we can be excited about this company. i think a lot of the negativity has been built in and that's what has push the stock down. i don't see it getting to 500. you expect it to slow down. >> if there was a love affair on wall street with this name and whether some of that is starting to change. >> it's a very long-standing love affair. this goes back a good five years now. if you had this in the back

"mad money" is next! >>> a wild ride for chipotle, which is our chart of the day. the stock completely reversing, hitting an aum-time high on the back of earnings last night when it was down as much as 6%. and guy, we are looking at a burrito blowout, if you will. >> yeah. we had one. >> in the after-hours session. >> was that last night? >> it was two nights ago. but chipotle's low was yesterday. >> well, it probably was -- >> still in my memory. the move -- fourth of july. look at that. there you go. they said there's 15% to 20% down side in cmg. stock closed at 600 -- 605 that day. that monday we did the show pete was on. we talked about it. i said look, i don't know, their margins seem to be declining, maybe "barron's" said they're up to something, pete said woe buy it. within a week the stock was 660. in the after hours i thought the quarter was marginal at best. stock sold off $50. and five minutes later it reversed. you saw the move. i don't know what to make of it. i get the growth story and all.

want to start off with chipotle? >> i often talk about how stupid people can be.hey report a number. immediately the stock drops 8% and then you listen to the conference call and you realize this is the big turn quarter. they know it too. one of my favorite cfos telling a remarkable story about how good things are since they stopped the pork shortage. started talking about the pizza initiative. they have pricing flexibility. i thought this was a remarkable quarter, and at one point someone said about loyalty programs. what do you think. they said we don't need to. we have loyal customers. we don't have to figure out a way to pay them to have loyalty like everybody else. a slap in the face to everybody else in retail saying listen we're loved and then pizza is out, that's good. they did not talk about shop house asian kitchen. but july was good and that also was what people were surprised about and the karneta shortage overseas they're sourcing hogs. fourth quarter, the problem solved, my prediction not theirs. >> go pro. >> okay. go pro, stock immediately up two p

reporting in a few hours, we've got microsoft, gopro and chipotle. let's start out with mr. softee, it could be a big quarter for satya nadelia. >> believe that it's a $40 stock. i think goldman sachs has the sell rating. it looks as though it wants to go to the $50 level. cloud and mobile appears to be where they want to go. they're doing the transition towards it so obviously with the nokia impairment charge that they're going to take tonight. you go see a loss on espn. i don't know necessarily, though, if you're going to see enough in the stock to reverse a lot of the positive momentum that you're seeing. to me the path of least resistance takes the stock to 50. >> it's got implied volatility going into tonight. about 5.5% according to the options market and if you remember what happened last quarter. this was the biggest one-day gain for microsoft after they reported going, you have to go back to 2009 to find anything like this. the stock gapped open 5%, closed up close to 11% on the day. the question is how much of the rest of this year's progress was already baked into

chipotle beating on earnings by a penny with revenue largely in line. however, comp store sales were 4.3% for the quarter. that was weaker than expected. so a reason for those weaker comp sales. the company's pork shortage after it cut ties with a supplier that didn't meet standards. the company saying 40% of restaurants are still temporarily without carnitas. on the call executives saying they found a new supplier and will be bringing pork back on a market by market basis. expects to make up any lost sales tied to this outage. company also saying it sees slightly better sales in july and that's tied to the price increase we've seen on steak and barbacoa. no resistance to those price increases so far. executives say. those 40% of restaurants haven't seen those price increases and it's mainly the ones without carnitas. we haven't had any bounceback from carn imt zas in guidance. the mexican chain continuing to expect low to mid single-digit comp sales for 2015. however, after plunging nearly 7% initially in afterhours trading following the numbers now th

aaa rising the most in a year -- chipotle rising the most in a year. credit covers both companies and he joins us now. let's talk about chipotle first because that company has raised prices at least once. if they have it, they will raise prices again. the sales are all their highs but still up 14%. craig: they are doing well today. the stock dipped aftermarket when the salesman became out but then you saw it slowly creep up. the raised prices earlier this month. customers keep coming back. matt: they said if you buy the shares, we will send you tens of cash -- tons of cash. that helps. craig: there is an incredible brand loyalty winter ball you do not see another change. they raise prices twice now. have not raised prices in the market where port is off the menu. people are trading off from state to something else that tom -- from steak something else. they have pages and pages of standards for how animals are raised. they say they cannot find it. they suspended the pork supplier. they have carney does on the menu back in 100 restaurants in california.

witness chipotle dropping 100 points in a day. it was one point down on an individual day. it suggested the company might be more vulnerable to economic weakness than anyone thought. we thought it was a great secular grower no matter what. and you made out like a bandit after the growth returned and then some. but you have to be cautious because unlike chipotle the pain could last for years as the stock goes through a painful process that we joke about. i like to refer to seinfeld. it could take years as momentum and growth seeking investors gradually pay less and less for slower erngs growth until all the growth money managers get shaken out entirely and the price to earnings multiple sinks to level where is value oriented investors become interested and bottom fish. that's been what the long ride down has been forals like merck or mcdonald's. when you see it don't hang on for the full ride down just -- >> sell sell sell. >> the bottom line to build a portfolio that can work in every kind of market you need a fast grower. a secular growth stock with lots ahead of it for ye
