i want to thank david chiu for doing ab 73. i mean, this is exactly what we were hoping would happen from this type of legislation, that we'd be able to get more housing that's going to have really well paying jobs, it's going to create affordable housing, and we're going to get it as quickly as possible. so this is really, to me sacramento lengths beigislatio able to work in conjunction with san francisco and being able to get what we need, housing into central soma that's going to be providing middle-income jobs. i have to comment on this call for 50% affordable housing, all right? i mean, we are seeing projects right now in the mission disappearing because they can't afford 23%, 24%, 30% affordable. let's be clear, a call for 50% affordable housing is a call for zero -- 50% of zero is zero, so it sounds great. let's call for 75%, but we can't get 20% to pencil right now. so this call for 50%, it's a great headline, but it means let's have no housing, and so let's just have that honest conversation. so ab 73, we're really exc

i want to send my personal thanks to assembly man david chiu. i think it's completely ironic that his bill is being implemented first in his district in san francisco, so i'm pleased and others have voiced about the inevitable implications of this plan are affordable housing and our vulnerable populations. and i know that again and again, there's been a call to see plans to enable aggressively purchasing, stablizing and protecting existing affordable housing. and so one thing, you know, i'm new to the commission, and we might have had this conversation before, but i'd really appreciate having a hearing with the mayor's office of housing that happens potentially before the board of supervisors hearing on this to really kind of get into the nitty-gritty of what plans we already have in place to stablize our housing stock, acquire new sites and protect our local community organizations from displacement. how that compares to what other cities are doing, and ultimately what more can we do to really put protections in place for the specific corridor,

during a rebar inspection in march 2017, inspector chiu asked about the walls being removed and askedto see the plans. he reviewed the plans and seemed satisfied as he made no comment that the project was out of compliance. subsequent inspections rummed in no notification there was a need for a correction notice nor anything else was required for an in kind replacement for the site walls. when the permits were suspended in october of 2017, we heard for the first time that the suggestion of excessive demolition. we applied for all the proper permits and submitted all the proper plans. all inspections were properly made beginning in march 2017. regarding the blind walls that are in question, we were never told to commit a correction notice. none of the inspectors said a word about the project being out of compliance and it was permitted by code as it was -- as it was permitted by code to replace in kind. the walls had been removed for over six months and only after the complaint about the excavation did the inspectors cite a violation. thank you. >> thank you. >> there's public comment.
