chloe cho is in singapore. chloe. >> hi, louisa. certainly we've seen more volatile swings than what we saw today, but quite a bit of red arrows, despite the fact that we had a positive handover on wall street. whether on wall street, bad data translates into equity performance, that remains to be seen. we had a couple of interesting data points coming out of japan today. the market came off its highs and ended up about 1.4%. industrial picks, activity seems to be picking up, but certainly mr. abe and the rest of the team in japan seem to be miles away in beating that deflation. also the fact that a serbia manufacturer suggests there could be weaker months ahead. that suggests volatility could be further down the road. it's interesting, there's a nikkei report without attributing any source that japan might impose new rules on the forex margin trading and that is to extend the volatility, the huge swings that we've been seeing in dollar/yen, as well. we saw already the strengthening of the japanese yen. take a look quickly at where

chloe cho join onning us out of asia. miss cho, nice to see you again. >> very nice to see you, as california, karen. quite a bit of green arrows that we see across the board. interesting to see how the hang seng ended up at a two-month high. quite a bit of rotational buying in the greater china market. a lot of strength coming into the fms and property space. not really have to do -- it's not really about the fact that this is where the money is going in light of the harsh measures that are going into the wealth management products out there. so it's going to be a much more difficult environment for banks to make money out there. but it seems to be about valuations out there. the bigger story that's really grabbing people's attention is really about what's happening in the japanese bond market. these are the equity spaces. interesting to see how the japanese government bond yield ticking higher to 0.9%. remember, it was that 1% threshold that caused a lot of the category reaction. interests to see how the japanese govern

chloe is with us for the next couple of weeks. >> hi, ross. great to see you. in asia kra, no reaction to rba minutes, whether it's the equity markets or the currency markets. it was more about comments from goldman sachs that perhaps the high trade might be over. a lot of profit warnings coming up in mining services and elsewhere, as well. take a look at the nikkei. the rio kick starting the first of a two-day meeting. interesting comments coming out from the boj manager saying there needs to be a thorough conversation. where that goes could put further pressure on the bank of japan. interesting to note that the nikkei was mostly in negative territory for most of the morning session. it did close up in the green to a fresh 5 1/2 year high. take a look at the divergent picture in greater china. quite a bit of upside. some of the data processor spots closing limit up in mainland china. but remember the bigger story about goldman sachs paring down is essentially making an exit in the world's largest badge icbc. the stock in hong kong did close about 2% to 3% high

chloe kicks us off in singapore. >> hi there, ross. interesting stock coming out from the japanese central bank, especially as they are very mindful of the jittery moves. just a flash coming through that they are going to hold a meeting with jgb market participants later this month, on may 29th. interesting to know how we've actually seen quite a bit of moves, even in the ten-year. remember, there was a 40-year auction, and that was luke-warm yesterday. i mean, after all, you have to think about it, why would anybody really want to have a lot of confidence of the 40-year in light of the fact that japan is the world's fastest graying society? that said, today, even with the jittery moves we saw in the japanese bond yields, we did see the market tick up higher, up 1.6%. remember, some of the commentary, the economic assessment upped for five months in a row, the economy export situation, saying that was looking better. that, bear in mind that we did get export numbers for april that were sgoidisappointing. the explanation is that there i

. >>> let's check on the trading day in the asian markets and chloe cho is joining us from asia. a lot of green on your charts today. >> a little green, but remember, it took a lot of choppiness to get here and also a lot of caution out there as well. a big worry for asia is that if we are moving into a higher rate, stronger dollar environment, this might not bode well. a couple of past experiences, 2004 and 1994. asia actually underperformed. you were highlighting how the aud has fallen like a rock there, getting closer to two-year lows. what's interesting is that the high-yield players keep selling off despite the real yield of 5% or so over in australia. so, that is a bit of concern. the imf joining the bandwagon, lowering the growth estimates. due bear in mind that they're lowering projection to 7.75% from the earlier call of 8% is still higher than the government, what the chinese government's estimate is, 7.5%. also, the ims urging cap on social financing. this is a broad gauge of the amount of money flowing into the system, and saying that if growth levels fall behind in c
