he was tackled by chp and oakland police. we want to show you a video of the suspect that was taken to the scene here. police say they tried to pull him over around 3:45 this morning on park street. chp he was says he was weaving and they thought he was driving under the influence. he did pull over but he wouldn't roll down his window. after a minute he took off. >> speeds up to 90 miles an hour initially. surface streets average speed 30-40 miles an hour. the vehicle started smoking after the chase began. >> reporter: nonidea how long this chase would have gone if his car didn't break down. as far as he who he is and if he is under the influence chp trying to chase that down. we saw him going through id and personal involvings. they say they are still trying to confirm that they do believe he is on probation out of alameda county. as far as the chase goes. the chp says there were three u three officers at any given time involved in the chase. other officers were clearing the intersection. they say this chase was completely m

chp says this was a three car accident. near as they can figure right now in the early stage of the investigation, one car traveling southbound on880 was disabled in the middle of the roadway. and based on the accident or what they've deemed to be what happened, the car actually was turn around and facing the opposite direction. two cars came through there. one car hit the second car. the first car head on. and the person was either outside the car or inside of the car. that person died on the scene. there was another car involved. we're not sure where that vehicle hit the first car or if it hit the second car. two vehicles had to be towed away from the scene. live picture right now you can see that, yes, we've been able to show you all lanes are now open on 880 southbound. again, chp's been investigating what happened here and why. one person did die in this accident at 3:12 this morning. another person was hit his car was damaged. he couldn't drive it away. it was towed away. but 880 southbound is now open. reporting live

i just spoke to chp.mostly affecting the off- ramp so the main lines of 680 look okay on the southbound side. no troubles to report northbound 680. 880 oakland extra volume northbound towards the coliseum, southbound extra volume into hayward. if you are headed in order towards the bay bridge, traffic still friday light through here. the metering lights are off and easy 18 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the maze. but again we are dealing with the wet roads so give yourself some extra time. live look right now in the south bay if you are headed to anywhere like guadalupe parkway, 280 through san jose, we had worth of some flooding this morning but looks like everything is cleared now. you can see guadalupe parkway actually moving nicely through there. jumping back over to our maps right now, checking your drive through the south bay, you can see lots of green right here on the maps. so that means traffic is moving well through this area. here's a live look at 280 through san jose. not too bad through

several chp crews are on scene.st had the right lane blocked off right now for the investigation as well as portions of that frontage road in the area near university avenue. we were seeing a lot of slow traffic, not the case anymore. 62 miles an hour and westbound 80 traffic not impacted by the way. might be a visual distraction but the fog is coming in so thick in the area that you likely won't be able to see much. in fact, we have a fog advisory for the bay bridge approaching the pay gates. it looks like this across the span. it's hard for us to see the bay bridge in the traffic cameras this morning. traffic alert in effect in vallejo. they were hoping to have the wilson avenue on-ramp re-opened by 5:30, but it's still closed to westbound 37. there was an overturned vehicle crash. an air ambulance was taken to the scene so major injuries in that crash. elsewhere you can see what it looks like outside. it's a misty wet start to the morning commute. that is never a good sign when it comes to our accident count. tod

[ signal breakup ] it happened just after 11:50 p.m. here at the intersection of grand and beech street in hayward. what we are learning is that after 11:47 last night alameda county deputies were patrolling castro valley when they pulled over the driver of a 1994 honda civic that they matched a stolen car description. that car was stolen last friday. the driver threw the car into reverse when stopped, slammed into the officer's car and took off. the police chase ensued through the city of castro valley into hayward at speeds up to 60 miles an hour. when the suspect got to this intersection here at hayward and grand street, the suspect ran a red light where a bart cop was driving through. th
