we just got an update from chp. we'll bring you that information as soon as that finishes coming into the newsroom. we have, though, the cleanup that continues here as well. and we were originally looking at a 6:45 reopening. looks like they're well on that progress. there's a crew here. now, this is the southbound side at park boulevard. back to the maps, let's look to the northbound side now, just a couple miles away. the maps will show you what we're talking about as we're looking at northbound 13 at 35th. another tree reported there sticking out into the freeway. both sides of highway 13 having an issue for the short section of highway. 580 is a good alternate for you to stay completely clear and it should be completely cleared by 7:00. we're hoping that is the case. if it is then we should have relatively smooth traffic flow through the area. it's relatively light through the east bay and the south bay. pretty much not a problem for flowing out of los gatos but we've got the second tree down or the third tree i

i just checked in with chp they have a couple other hot spots.80 six inches of water on the road. 580 in richmond a van that had a spin out facing the wrong way they got to move that out. a few problems new york major things you want to be aware of. here's individual -- moments ago a tree was giving them problems, it fell overnight, blocked all lanes to the eastbound 580 on-ramp at coolidge they did get it cleared in time for the morning commute. the trees have been falling all over the bay area. one landed on a house. also standing water here and there in some spots this is just after the first day of of this storm. we still have a few more days to go. officials are worried that more problems are on the way. the chp says the number of calls that are coming in are definitely up compared to a typical morning. nothing major, none of the calls are surprising them. it is a spin-out here, fender-bender there, things they expect. nothing major. they are hoping it is going to stay that way the morning commute is upon us and the rain is still falling. so

joining me now is sam thwarted with the chp.s >> we had a person that was struck by a vehicle traveling on south 13. reports indicate that the first vehicle which was a four-door sedan was traveling through the area and collided into a downed trees. those persons survived in that crash and pulled over to the center divider and got out of the vehicle and attempted to make it over to the right shoulder. shortly after making it to the right shoulder, a second vehicle traveling in the area skylighted into the tree as well, the vehicle went airborne and destructive driver of the first vehicle. the driver of the first vehicle sustained fatal injuries. the other passengers were injured but they do not appear to be life- threatening injuries. will >> the driver and passengers were on the shoulder, were they doing with these are supposed to? >> it would have been safer if they remained in their vehicle until emergency personnel arrived. generally speaking, if you get out of your vehicle you have a greater chance of being struck by passin

found unharmed and are being returned to their mother by chp. and police on the peninsula looking for a san bruno man missing for one week now. authorities found his car this week in a neighborhood near sharp park golf course. police, the park service and coast guard searched the area two days but couldn't find mchenry. no one has seen him since friday. he told people he was going rock climbing. >> a former professor has been sentenced to three decades in prison on child sex abuse and porn charges. the 47-year-old admitted guilt yesterday afternoon and that is an incorrect picture, there. he described traveling from the bay area to st. louis, missouri so he can repeatedly molest an infant. kyle was a professor of justice studies when police arrested him in march of 2010. he has been sentenced to 37 and a half years in prison. >> and thursday's noisy protests to save an oakland home from foreclosure heard through the board room of one of the country's biggest bank banks. more than 100 turned out to skrupt disrupt the auction. it worked. she's a c

the chp is suggesting that you find where of accident. hopefully will have was the from the scene coming up shortly. we do have windy conditions at the bay bridge. a wind advisory has been cut into affect. >>james: highway 4 is open after a tanker crash had it shutdown for nearly the entire night. dan kerman shows us the damage. >>dan: for more than eight hours a tanker laid on its side blocking the sky we near highway 4. it was around 10:30 a.m. when the vehicle what exited only to lose control and flipped. the tanker contained a highly flammable chemical used in diesel fuel. none of its build but the chp says the tape was damaged forcing those on scene to transfer 64,000 lbs. of the chemical from the damaged tanker to another tanker. during that process the sky with exit was closed in the meantime the chp is investigating the cause of the accident. the only injury in this accident was the driver of the tanker. he went to a local hospital complaining of pain. >>justine: pg&e has settled with victims of the pipeline explosion for $70 mill

chp investigating a fatal crash. it happened on interstate 680. the chp says one car flew off the freeway after a crash involving three cars. one man in his 60s was killed. one other person was seriously injured. it's not clear happen lead up to the deadly crash. investigators say there is no sign alcohol was a factor. at 4:30 we are looking at a live picture of highway 4. this is westbound highway 4. no major issues here. as a matter of fact, it's a nice looking drive coming all the way up to the willow pass grade. and this is a look at northbound 101 in san francisco. it looks good approaching the 80 split. let's go back to pam. >>> a man is behind bars facing five coups of murder. tara moriarty is outside the san francisco home where police continue to guard the crime scene. tara. >> reporter: neighbors around here are breathing a sigh of relief a suspect has been caught. there is still crime scene tape up that stretches the entire city block here. there is also flowers that sit in front of the home and a patrol car that guards the crime scene.
