chp. oakland has blocked off all lanes while they investigate an apparent car to car shooting. there's no word at this point as far as the extent of any injuries in this shooting. we do believe the suspect vehicle is no longer here, and i'll ask tony to pan behind us, take a look at all the vehicle, the all the cars and motorcycles that are stuck in this on the freeway here on eastbound 24. westbound 24 is okay, but if you are trying to get to contra costa county, you might want to take alternate routes such as interstate 580, perhaps northbound highway 13, which itself is getting to be backed up, or maybe even highway four. although i did hear from chp oakland that they might be reopening the freeway in a few minutes. but again, that takes time. they might either take us off broadway or reverse us to claremont. but again, right now the headlines are apparent. car-to-car shooting on eastbound highway 24 reported at about 1230 1245. the freeway has been shut down in the eastbound direction just west of broadway in oakland. that is the latest in oakland. henry lee, ktvu, fox two

now to some developing news that we're following here at oakland. the chpnvestigating yet another freeway shooting, this time on highway 24. >> let's get more now from our crime reporter, henry lee, who's been following this story all throughout the afternoon. he joins us now live from oakland with the latest on what we know. henry, the freeway now back open. right. >> that's right. it's been open as of about 230 this afternoon. now we are in oakland's rockridge section, not far from the section of highway 24 that was closed down completely in the eastbound direction because of the freeway. let's show you some earlier video. now, skyfox was overhead shortly after the shots were fired at about noon today, witnesses reported that there was a shooting on eastbound highway 24 just west of the broadway offramp here in oakland. witnesses reported a car to car shooting with someone firing on a white sedan. traffic came to a standstill as chp oakland officers rushed to the scene. now, we spoke to chp oakland officer adib zaid. here's what he had to say. >> responde

traffic on eastbound 24 freeway in oakland shut down for more than three hours today after the chp responded to calls of shots fired and found a car that had also crashed. investigators say at least one person is in the local hospital with leg wounds. nbc quintana is in oakland with the very latest for us. what do we know? jessica, this is a shooting that happened around noon or so, and it happened right up there on on highway 24. and the police chp who responded to this, they were up there for about three hours as they were trying to gather evidence of the shooting, but they were also dispatched to that green house right over there. that's because there is a possible stray bullet that went into one of the windows in that house. now, let's start by showing you the car hit by bullets in this incident. you can see it there, a white sedan with its front end smashed up. it looks like the car careened into the center divide before coming to a stop. and if you look closely, you can see bullet holes in the vehicle. now, according to the california highway patrol,

he took them through the streets of oakland. the chp was able to slow down that driver with the help of spike strips, flattening some of his tires, but he kept going. the chase slowed down to about 20 miles an hour. chp then deployed the spike strips two more times, flattening more tires, slowing him down to five miles an hour. the driver finally stopping his car about an hour and a half later. after leading the chase through berkeley and emeryville, he stopped in oakland. police say he stopped for a smoke break and then was taken into custody. also new this morning. we are awaiting word from san jose police after a man was stabbed in santana row on valentine's day. police responded to that upscale shopping area near olson drive just after 7 p.m. this is right across from the movie theater. they say the victim was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. nbc bay area spoke to people who were inside some of those restaurants on valentine's night. many shocked to hear about what happened, including people who live in that saf

the combined efforts of oakland police and the chp resulted in more than 60 arrests, 44 for felonies. 18 cases involved people driving under the influence. in all, authorities issued 177 traffic citations. law enforcement also recovered six firearms. and police say the arrests were connected to various crimes, including homicide, armed robbery, burglary, prostitution, and vandalism. >> time now. 507a man from roseville is facing felony charges. he's accused of running an illegal assault weapon manufacturing operation out of his garage. state attorney general rob bonta announced the arrest and the charges. california gun regulators claim they caught mark j. berman trying to sell a silencer and two illegal assault weapons at the placerville gun show back in november. that launched a bigger investigation and the search of his home. >> total. we seized eight assault rifles, a silencer, numerous other handguns, rifles, disassembled rifles, firearm parts, large capacity magazines and ammunition. >> now, berman is facing several felony charges, including the manufacturing of assault weapons,
