chris: for deepfake you start with the source data. mean pictures and videos of the character you want to deepfake. in my case, it's tom cruise. like, around 6700 source images of all his angles, of all his expressions. hamish: the key to building a deepfake is what's cald the generative adversarial network. it takes two neural networks which are algorithms that mimic the way our brains work. they learn from each other and adapt, it then pits the two against each other to build a perfect deepfake. chris: it took me 2 to 2½ months in total, just to prepare it, to get it running, to get where a model is at, and after that it took 2 to 3 days to train on each figure separately and up to 24 hou of posproduction but going frame by frame, working on details, working on glitches. if you compare the quality we could achieve with deepfakes a year ago and what we can achieveow, it's a day and night difference. it's unbelievable. i've been talking with certain governments as an--advising, in a good way, right? like, a lot of governments are still
