i'm chris haze. tens of thousands of californians are under evacuation orders across los angeles metro area as five wildfires are currently burning, largely without containment. the newest of those fires, the one you see in the north there on your screen is the lidia fire, which started burning just this afternoon in altadena, california, near the san gabriel mountains. the largest, of course the one that we were covering last night, is the palisades fire, which is growing. it is not contained, in fact growing at an alarming rate. nearly 16,000 acres have burned so far. governor gavin newsom called its size and scope at this early stage unprecedented and for all intents and purposes, the town square in the pacific palisades neighborhood of los angeles simply no longer exists. thousands of properties have burned to the ground. homes, businesses, schools, places of worship just all gone as firefighters struggle with an overwhelming disaster and a shortage of water. >> we lost everything we own but it d

i'm chris haze. we are continuing our coverage of the attack in new orleans last night. around 3:00 a.m. this morning a man drove a truck into a crowd on bourbon street in the french quarter of new orleans, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens more. we are awaiting further news about some of the victims were hospitalized on the back of the truck the attacker appears to have, as you can see, mounted an isis flag unfurled, which you can see in the photo. the fbi says they were investigating the incident as a terrorist attack and whether or not the suspect had any ties to isis. the suspect has been identified as a 42-year-old american and military veteran named shamsud- din jabbar, who was reportedly a lifelong resident of texas, born and raised. just in the last hour police in houston, texas, have arrived at an address associated with the attacker. bourbon street remains an active crime scene this evening, as you would expect. police say they found weapons and improvised explosive devices inside the truck and crucially, that of her explosive devices were found el
