i'm chris chmura.t will be a good year thanks to the winter rain. bob redell connects the dots. >> reporter: i asked brent, the wine maker here, what does this year's harvest look like now that we are finally out of the drought? he says the 2023 vintage is looking promising for a number of reasons. our winter storms saturated the soil. the vines grew sooner as a result. healthier plants. he didn't have to water until a good two to three months later than usual, with 20% to 30% less water overall. there's a little less fruit on the vines, he says, this year because of the mild spring and a couple of rainy periods in the middle of the broom. the up side, those looser clusters of grapes are less prone to mold and mildew. brent anticipates this year's harvest to start in two to three weeks from now, which historically is a more normal time frame. >> it's that goldilocks thing. so far, this year has been just right. we had the mild start. then we have had heat spells that haven't been extreme. they have bee
