let's get to the point with chris cillizza. has pelosi consolidated? is she going to do this?, i think she is and she probably always was, john. you know, one of the things of politics is you don't beat something with nothing. and the anti-pelosi democrats haven't had anyone willing to run against her, which makes it a big challenge. i will point to you on monday, one of the faces of the anti-pelosi movement is a democratic congressman from massachusetts said he wants to negotiate with pelosi. he doesn't necessarily want her to leave the speaker shspeakers. he wants to negotiate about what their leadership looks like. ten days ago he said he was quote, 100% confident that they had the votes to keep pelosi from the speakership. you don't negotiate if you think you are winning. i think he is trying to save face. nancy pelosi didn't get to where she has gotten by not being good at and willing to play hardball politics. she's done it well. >> ten days ago, didn't he have the vote? we saw that letter where it was like 17 other or something like that democrats had signed on. didn't

bush, former democratic house member and cnn politics editor at large chris cillizza. s, i will start with you because you analyze all of these things. so does today feel different in terms of all of the threads of putting together the robert mueller investigation? >> i don't know different, but we see a bigger hole in the picture. it's like standing one inch from a picture, peering through a door with a very slight crack and trying to figure out what the whole thing says. that door or that hole widened a little bit. i think we can see a little bit. this is draft material, as you point out. but it does suggest where bob mueller is pushing at least in one direction, which is roger stone, wikileaks, jerome corsi and the fact that we know that wikileaks released a series of e-mails hacked from the dnc as well as john podesta, the campaign chairman for hillary clinton's e-mail in the run-up to the final vote. so that's a piece. now, we suspected that. we have seen sort of a focus more on stone as things have gone along. but i do think it's clarification, and it's a little b

chris cillizza, do you think the president was wary of the optics of sitting down with putin so soonfter this bombshell? >> yes, and i think context matters. let's remember back in helsinki, donald trump and vladimir putin side by side. donald trump says, well, you know, i know our intelligence community says it was russia that interfered in the election and helped me and hurt hillary clinton but vladimir putin said it wasn't. we are both to blame. there was a huge uproar stateside. if he's not in a great place mentally dealing with cohen and what looks like bob mueller's investigation picking up momentum and the vice tightening, it might not be the best idea for him to sit down with donald trump or any other hostile world leader. i don't think the ukrainian issue is the reason for that, wolf. i think it can be cited for a reason but put me in bianna's camp in that it would shine even more light on what he would not do and if donald trump sat down with vladimir putin, he's not going to all of a sudden confront vladimir putin over russian interference. he hasn't done it before. it won

chris cillizza, does it look like the president has settled in with five days to go on his closing arguments no question, and i think you need to see this, you know, alleged policy address that was a campaign speech in the roosevelt room as a piece of the larger puzzle. this was billed as something that it was not. no policy, donald trump saying there's a roving horde -- i'm paraphrasing, a roving horde of immigrants on the way to the country and they want to overwhelm our borders and there's criminals in there and i'm not going to let that happen. the facts that left the barn a long time ago on this in terms of the details. he's clearly settled on this though as the message, not terribly surprising given that immigration, his plan to build a wall, the travel ban, these were things that animated the trump base in 2015 and then 2016. he's going back to what he knows. you're going to hear more and more of this. you know, he's holding a ton of rallies. he'll hear this rhetoric. this will be the closing argument and it will be i think effective for this base. that will help in the senate because
