our own chris cuomo is in havana. chris, from your vantage point, what are the people feeling and thinking as the president is about to arrive? >> well, i'll tell you what, fred, as correct as what you just said is, 90 years, even bigger than that for the cuban people. they see this as never. there has never been a u.s. president here since the revolution. and remember, to talk prerevolution, that was a different time and expectation. so today is huge for them. it feels like when the pope was coming, you know, interestingly over my shoulder is the famous symbol here of the entry way to the havana bay. the lighthouse. and it is seen as the metaphor for the welcoming into cuba and havana. when the pope came, it was big. this you could argue is even bigger. many generations thought it would never happen. >> and that lighthouse is huge. it is symbolic of the hope that many people have been holding on to it for a long time. but at the same time feeling that this day would never come, meaning this day being the eve of real c

he told chris cuomo something yesterday that is getting a lot of attention. he says if we get to the convention and i don't have the nomination, you have a lot of people who pin their hopes on me. who come out from not being voters because they want change with me. it could get ugly. listen to what he said. >> i think we'll win before getting to the convention. i can tell you, if we didn't and we're 20 votes short or if we're, you know, 100 short, and we're at 1,100 and somebody at 400, because we're way ahead of everybody, i don't think you can say we don't get it automatically. i think you would have riots. >> of course, his opponents overnight, ted cruz, in particular, saying why is he predicting a warning of riots? that doesn't help the tone. what do you make of this? >> first of all, let's hope there are no riots. i think for donald trump, it is almost going to be difficult for him to reach that number of 1,237. he will have to improve his percentage of victory in a lot of states. a couple of winner take all states. he could pad his delegate count there.

we heard donald trump tell our chris cuomo this morning that he should expect a nicer, softer, lighterht of his tactics, his rhetoric to this point, why make that change now? >> i don't think it will be him that will be making the change. i think the other candidates have figured out that when everybody, you know, goes after each other up on the stage, the american people lose out and it really doesn't benefit anybody. in fact there's been no position improvement. in fact i think marco rubio is really struggling right now trying to find his footing. i think ted is essentially stagnating in second place. we seem to be improving and we're stretching our delegate lead. after next tuesday, i think it's going to be an insurmountable lead. and i think that this is what i think is really going on here. the psychology right now going into the next super tuesday is -- and i don't think it benefits anyone to get up on that stage and raise their elbows, it really doesn't. i think they really need to get up there and differentiate themselves and make the case going forward why they should be the p

chris cuomo is on the debate stage with that part of the story. is there any sense that folks would like to see less personal attacks tonight, and is that even possibly? >> i think the answer to both of those questions is yes, anderson. no question the campaigns, especially and their primary support teams do want that. but for very different reasons. john kasich's team says we don't change. we've always been consistent. that's how we got where we are right now and we're building. so they want it to stay the same. the cruz campaign is saying they want a tone shift but it's because they believe that especially tonight this could be their night. on points of contrast of policy, ted cruz can get the momentum that he needs. from the rubio camp, more of a negative influence. they do not believe it worked for them the last time. they are laying off some of the recent displays in the elections, the different cycle that's they're in right now as a function of that. so they want marco rubio to get back to what they believe is his strongest suit, staying pos

and now to chris cuomo with a big job tonight. >> my job, listen, wolf.ts assembled to figure out what's going on today. we just heard donald trump saying it's no longer about a man. it's a movement. gloria, when you heard those lines from him and he was doing a lot of his stump speech but started to list states and make this historical and we haven't seen this in 100 years. what's the new move? >> he's got to keep winning, and i think the job for his opponents today is to stop this inevitable movement towards victory, which a lot of people think he has. and so if they can pick off some states. if they can -- if ted cruz, for example, can do what rick santorum did last time and surprise everyone and win kansas, for example, lots of evangelicals in kansas, or start wracking up delegates. this is not -- about stopping donald trump's momentum. you've seen the establishment freak out this week. you heard mitt romney, and i think that what that may do in the end, and we'll see today, incite trump supporters to come out even more. we just don't know yet. >> hmm

trump talking to chris cuomo yesterday about the possibility of a contested convention. take a listen. >> if we're 20 votes short or if we're, you know, 100 short and we're at 1100 and somebody else is at 500 or 400, because we're way ahead of everybody, i don't think you can say that we don't get it automatically. i think it would be -- i think you'd have riots. >> house speaker paul ryan today said in response, nobody should say such things in my opinion because to even address or hint to violence is unacceptable. what did you make of that comment? >> i'm not going to agree with how everybody says anything but let's think about where we are this year. this year people don't trust party leaders. they don't trust the establishment right now. they don't trust our political leaders. so we are going to go to a convention where donald trump is going to be -- either have the delegates or be very close and then party leaders are going to choose somebody else? i think that would make sure we don't win in november. we've got to win in november. we've got to have a president that
