chris daley this afternoon moved to reopen nominations for that position. that motion failed by a vote of 6-5. daley told us he had become increasingly resigned to lee winning the nomination. >> there's some buttons being pushed but you know it seems as if progressives as i define it and that's those who want to challenge corporate power actually aren't a majority of the board of supervisors. so with you know five votes, you know i'm not sure what we can do. >> i would be surprised if there were any surprises this afternoon. i think and hope that there is significant consensus growing around ed lee based on his depth and breath of experience. >> i think there will be some effort made by the regressives to find somebody else. but i don't think that there's any legs to such an effort. >> reporter: now supervisor daley also tried to regenerate the candidacy of harold. lee has about 10 votes from the 11 supervisors needed to win the nomination today. the incoming board of supervisors will vote on lee's nomination if he secures it on tuesday. reporting live in s
