of course, i want to know all about "saturday night live" and chris farley and the eddie murphy story. but then, i -- and the skippy story. >> oh, yeah, the guy attacking me. yeah, yeah. [ light laughter ] there's too many insane stories. >> jimmy: insane. there's too many insane, i loved every bit of it but i didn't also know that you were in a fraternity. and this is funny. >> i was in a fraternity. [ laughter ] >> jimmy: does he look like a a frat guy? he looks like a real tough -- [ cheers and applause ] >> i had my little alligator shirt. i was like, collar up! [ laughter ] and i was, but you know, they bring in the fraternity. my brothereras in it, too, and, they're a great bunch of guys. so i go through the first week where they're nice to you, andnd i'm so dumb. i meanani've seen "animal house." like it flips right away, but i don't -- i go, "no, not these guys." so immediately they hate me. and they're like, "on the ground, ass [ bleep ]. i'm like, huh? like, wait, you wereust nice to me? so, i'm a pledge&and i have to do everything they want, and they call you at like, 4:00

your relationship with chris farley and it was a difficult chapter to write. but what was it about that relationship? i know you mention in there that he was almost a jealous type at times. like you guys were husband and wife. >> yeah. except we slept in the same bed. >> you want to make that clear. >> we were like a tight married couple. yes. i think he clung on to me -- and i clung on to him. we met right when we started at snl. and i'm sort of a quieter not super clowney person and sort of more based where he could rely on me and always go to me and i would be a friend to him. and everyone else, some showbiz people are too scattered and nuts and i was just trying to focused. and i wasn't like a super partier or super crazy, which he got mad about sometimes. but overall he knew we were genuinely buddies. but when you do a movie with him and fly back to the show and do a movie again. in just 24 hours, of course we have our arguments and they are so dumb which is funny because they are on stuff like candies bars and so you're so on edge you just want to fight

then i'm wearing a belt, and it gets very chris farley-esq. >> stephen: geerm oh, are you not fat. there is just more of you to terrify me. >> exactly. >> stephen: and you do. you terrify me in the most delightful way. you have your c.v., here. i have everything you guys have done. i don't have time to describe all the things that the four of you have accomplished. we won't have time to talk. >> it's in spanish. >> stephen: oh, sole mente. that's my italian. that's as close as i can get. suffice to say you're three great actors and you're a great director, and the new film is called "crimson peak," which is described as-- ( applause ) people are ready to be terrified. it's not simply terrifying. guillermo, you describe it as a-- do i have this right-- a gothic romance? >> exactly. >> stephen: what is the difference between that and gothic horror? >> well, it is an offshoot of gothic. for to00 years or more. it was at the peak in the victorian era, in the 1800s. and it has a unique flavor. there hasn't been a proper gothic romance, not on this scale for the last 50 years, i can say.

we met in the hotel his first day and he was like how are you, chris farley and snapped his head around and hair flopped around and so funny and nice and i was scared and i was from arizona and we walked to work and he goes there's a mcdonald's here, too. there's one in wisconsin and i go -- like wisconsin dundee. i didn't know anything, and when you go to the atm you can only take out $10 a time. pick it up, guy, i don't want to go every six minutes. i always made fun of him and we made him life. like an old married couple except we slept in the same bed and lorne said why don't we do a movie about you two, have a movie and some of the staff writers wrote it and then we went off and did it and it turned out to be sort of a hit at the time but as more time goes by i think it was -- it was well known and liked. >> favorite. >> he was great. >> i talk some stories about him, hopefully ones people hadn't heard and then the guy that attacked me in my house. >> a million stories. >> that's fright nick. >> there are a lot of great stories in the book. >> unfortunately, we're out of time but t
